Wedding Ceremony on the National Mall

Has anyone had or attended a wedding ceremony along the Jefferson Memorial or the WWI Memorial?  I want to have a outdoor ceremony in DC and haven't found many options for just ceremony sites.  Any site location suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Someone I know had their ceremony there (didn't attend) and the one thing everyone noted was how many people stopped and stared and took pictures.

I'm pretty sure the national park service has a web page somewhere with info about where/how to get married at these places.  I defintely thought about the WWI memorial, didn't look in to it too much though. I know Rock Creek Park has sites but only for 50 people or less. Have you talked to the Arboretum? When I was looking at sites a couple of months ago they were revamping their wedding policy.

Thanks. I am going to contact the Arboretum in Sept. once they have their new policies up.

Just a heads up, I'm pretty sure you'll need a permit to take any professional pictures/video around there. Your photog should know how to get one. One photographer told me he was detained by park police because he was w/o a permit while taking wedding pics at the monuments. It would be horrible to not have your whole day documented at such a beautiful location.

I'm fairly certain the permit is only necessary if you're using a tripod. Otherwise, wouldn't they be detaining a LOT of people for taking pictures?

True, maybe the incident I know of involved a tripod. Not sure.

A permit is needed with or without a tripod.  Any "commercial pictures" are included.  Check out the park service site,  according to the photographers I've dealt with they routinely ask people to leave the mall.
