Bouquet colors for purple and red BM dresses?

Our wedding colors are purple pink and red.  I dislike red in general but compromised with FI as that was his only color request for the wedding. The idea was for purple to be the more prominent color with pink coming in second and red as an accent. But now, the whole scheme is becoming more about purple and red than I ever wanted it to be. And I’m not so happy about it.

So here’s the deal, there are 3 girls with me on the big day.. MOH, BM and JBM. JBM, FI’s daughter I already know will wear a purple dress, lol it’s her absolute favorite color. BM my sister has a red dress she will be wearing. And MOH recently told me she would like to wear purple and has already found some possible dresses. Ok no big, purple, red, purple. Now I only have to figure out flowers and I don’t want any more red than there already is. I know it sounds silly but I really don’t like it. I’ve thought about giving the girls white bouquets as neutrals so that it won’t really matter what color dress they’re wearing… but the white idea isn’t really appealing to me. I want to bring pink back into the whole scheme but I’m not so sure how to do it. I don’t want the flowers to clash with the dresses, but I do want the bouquets to be able to bring these 2 colored dresses together. Any ideas? I’ve been googling pics for days haha


Here's a pic of our mock up centerpiece to get an idea of the colors we're going for. The pic shows a few light pinks and lavenders and those will be switched out for deeper colors.. but I don't necessarily mind light pinks or purples for bouquets..

Honestly - my first thought - before I even read this post was white.

But since you're not looking toward white...

The red is really throwing me off. It's hard to come up with anything that will go well with red and purple both..while incorporating pink. Lol. I'm no good at color scheming.

Haha this is the same problem I'm having! I'm afraid even something like white will look off with those colors.... maybe not?

hmmmm....I actually think this bouquet is really pretty! The reds in it are not super prominent but more of an accent, like you said you originally had in mind...it actually would be really pretty to mix in SOME ivory into your BM bouquets. that is what we are doing (lavender and more purple flowers with ivory mixed in).

What shades of purple and red are you talking about here?  Like DEEP red and purple?  Or....?

I think a mix of pink and maybe cream flowers for the bouquets? I think pink would work with both colors, plus it's part of your color scheme.

These colors might work? I agree that red can be difficult to match especially wtih purple. Also, maybe pink and light blue would work for the flowers?

I really like both bouquets you posted Beachlover! I think I will definitely have to end up mixing in white or cream to help bring them all together... I can live with that.

K888, no deeps. Basically like the colors of the centerpiece pic I posted. BM's red is this color, a bit lighter than in the photo


I don't have the exact color of the other dresses yet, but they'll be around this purple

Maybe I'm missing something. Why don't you have their bouquets be the same colors as the mockup centerpiece? I think that one is gorgeous. Does it have too much red for you? Also, the pinterest photo that butterfly posted incorporates all of the colors in a really nice way.

Yeah I guess that's the real reason Bridetobe, I want to avoid any extra red... and especially any more pairing of red and purple. But that's an idea too, using the centerpiece flowers minus the red. Sometimes I wish we could do these things with live examples in front of us instead of picturing it all in your head and waiting til weeks or days before the wedding to see how it all works or not together lol!

If you want to avoid more red I would go with a light purple/lavender color bouquet... I think that would compliment both color dresses nicely.  Although, I really like the bouquet butterflyjumper posted.

I think all pink bouquets would go great with red and purple, especially since it sounds like you're trying to incorporate more pink into the color scheme.
