Atlanta summer to hot for outdoor ceremony?

Hi Everyone!

I moving to Atlanta this in the next few months with my fiancée. We are planning on getting married next summer but I'm worried about the weather (we were thinking late May or early June). It would be a short ceremony, maybe 20 minutes at the max, in the evening with an indoor reception. Would that be too hot and uncomfortable for us and the guests? We're from Texas so heat is something I'm familiar with but I'm concerned about the humidity being terrible. I'm not set on an outdoor venue but I'm having trouble finding all indoor places that I like.

Thanks!

Meg

Its hot here in the summer, but no hotter than Texas. People do outdoor weddings all the time in May and June... once we hit July and August, fewer people decide to do them outside.

I think you'd be ok to do it in the earlier part of the Summer (as Annetastic said), but would not feel comfortable (myself and definitely for my guests) to do a ceremony in July or August (can be oppressive here).  I am going to an outdooor wedding the very end of May and think it'll be fine.    I lived in E TX for a while and the humidity is greater there than here some times.

    Good luck!

In May or early June, especially in the evening, it should be lovely. I'm sure you can find high and low temp. stats on weather.com or on a similar site if you want some hard data.

We're having our wedding outdoors this July, but I'm having it at 7pm.  I still expect it to be hot as hell! haha

If you're going to do it late into the summer, then plan for a SHORT ceremony! My cousin had church style fan programs that were very convenient in the heat.

My wedding is mid July at 7 pm and I'm hoping to have it outdoors. I can change to a ballroom within 2 hours so we'll see.

We are having an outside ceremony next to water on a golf course in early June. at 6:30 pm. We are providing fan programs and water bottles and having a 20--25 minute ceremony. Then our reception will be inside the clubhouse. Early June is not too hot, but also make sure you have it later in the evening, in shade if possible, and provide means to keep your guests from overheating. You should be fine though!
