Frog golf course - Villa Rica

Has anyone had any experience with this venue? I'm from out of town, and my mom and dad went to scope them out.

They quoted them $6000 for an all inclusive reception plus open bar.

Sounds too good to be true. I'm trying to get ahold of the caterer, to confirm. But in the meantime. Any experiences?

Thanks!!

$6000 + an open bar, or the $6000 includes the open bar.

What was included in the "all inclusive reception?"

P.S. You do realize where Villa Rica is, right?  There aren't a whole lot of decent hotel options out in that area.

    6000 included the open bar
all inclusive - they said the food, chairs, china, staff, bartender, centerpieces, flowers

they didn't include the cake and something else, I forget what.

No, I have no idea where Villa Rica is. I'm from Boston, and I won't be moving to  GA until late Sept this year.

What do you mean by decent? Are you saying Villa Rica is not a good area for a wedding?

I am saying there is not a whole lot in Villa Rica especially where the golf course is.  Villa Rica is a good forty-five minute drive (without traffic) west from Atlanta, and there is always traffic in Atlanta.  I don't know if your guests will be flying in or if some of them currently live in Georgia, but they would have to rent rental cars as well. Just something to consider.

Otherwise (without knowing if the meal is plated, a buffet, hors d'oeuvres, etc.) I'd say it sounds like a good deal especially since it includes the open bar, etc.

I'm guessing since you don't know where Villa Rica is...you probably haven't been to the venue to see it for yourself.  Just be sure to do that as well as exactly what kind of centerpieces, etc. is are included :)

We're planning on making a trip down to GA for a week or two this summer to check out venues, I was just wondering if this place was a dump or what! haha, for 6000, here, you can barely rent chairs!!

And we figured that our guests will probably have to rent cars, because all the venues we've seen online are not cab-distance from the airport. --we've yet to find something within ATL that's reasonable. Our budget is 20,000 but if we can come in under budget that would be exciting.

What do you mean by 'not a whole lot' like, is there one econolodge and that's it? Are you from the area? I mean I guess if Villa Rica is as dead as you make it sound, we might look into another area, but for 6000, if they can include so much, maybe we can just stay a bit further away from the venue in a more 'lively' area?

If you have a $20K budget, you do realize you can have a beautiful wedding at one of the vineyards in North Georgia or a nice wedding in downtown Atlanta, too, right? :)

"dead" as in an hour from the airport and a handful of hotels though I don't know how "nice" they are.  I live about twenty minutes from the area.

I don't know how many people you're inviting....some of the below places have INEXPENSIVE packages, and some are around $100 per person (all-inclusive.)

Here are some ideas, and they are the only ones I have firsthand knowledge of:

http://www.bsvw.com (Blackstock Vineyards and Winery - Dahlonega, Georgia)
    http://www.tnaqua.org (Chattanooga - Tennessee Aquarium)
    http://the-atrium.com (BEAUTIFUL and inexpensive)

http://www.theviewatkingplow.com/home.phtml - King Plow Arts Center (located in downtown - industrial chic)

http://www.cartercenter.org/about/facilities/index.html - The Carter Center (also downtown)
http://www.bigcanoe.com/Weddings.aspx - Chimneys at Big Canoe (a couple of brides on here are getting married there)
http://www.talkofthetownatlanta.com/atlanta-event-facilities-venues/ - This caterer lists several places that they cater for, but it could give you some ideas.

My parents live in Villa Rica; good area near Six Flags and the mall.  But it is 40 minutes from downtown Atlanta.  good luck.
