Budget-Friendly, Rustic Farm/Garden Venue

Hi! I just got engaged this weekend. I've always dreamed of getting married in the Fall but I don't want to wait until 2011! So, I've begun the planning now in hopes I can get hitched this October :)

We are in search of a rustic, outdoor setting on a farm or in gardens with lots of natural beauty for our ceremony with an outdoor/tented/open air reception to follow. We're open to having it in a setting like the N GA mountains but we want to keep travel time down to a maximum of an hour outside of Atl. We want to bring in our own alcohol and use an outside caterer. We also want the place to have a laid back vibe where they won't mind our big yellow lab and dozens of squealing children being on-site for the ceremony! I've done some digging and I've found a few spots but none of them have everything we're looking for. Serenbe has just the vibe we want but it is WAY over our budget. We're open to a Fri wedding to keep costs down. Any suggestions?? THANKS!

Let me know what you find- I'm also looking for something along those lines, definitely budget friendly.  Have you looked into Roselawn?  It's in Cartersville and is an old home but has a very rustic/vintage look.

I hadn't heard of Roselawn but I just took a look at it. I couldn't get a good feel for the outside of the venue but the house looks a little more conservative than what I am after.

I'll let you know if I find anything!

My FH and I looked look at a venue:
    http://www.harrishomestead.com

It's a completely outdoor venue which wasn't exactly what we were looking for, however, the property was really nice, and very rustic in my opinion. I enjoyed it, but FH said it was a little TOO rustic for his taste. I would not recommend it for a wedding over about 75 people, 100 max. They do allow outside catering.

Have you looked at Four Oaks Manor in Buford? When I read your post that is the exact place that I imagined. I attended a wedding there and it was amazing. Check it out. I'm not sure if the catering is included or if you can bring outside caterers but the food was superb!

Two all-inclusive venues that are very reasonably priced:

    FORREST HILLS RESORT - Dahlonega
Beautiful scenery with that rustic feel you're looking for.   On-site chapel as well as an outdoor ceremony area with a gazebo.

VECOMA AT THE YELLOW RIVER - Snellville  (a few miles east of Stone Mountain Park).  Historic building with a large fireplace and beams - kind of a rustic feel.  Outdoor ceremony area available which is right next to the Yellow River.

Chota Falls is expensive.  Expect to pay around $25K just to start off (and I believe that's a Sunday or a weekday wedding.)  How about Blackstock Vineyards and Winery in Dahlonega?  You can bring your own beer or alcohol to pour, but you have to choose one of their wine packages.

R-Ranch might be a good option for you, too.  They allow you to bring in your alcohol, but you have to pay for a security guard the entire time of your wedding and reception.

I represent a fabulous "rustic luxe" farm venue situated on 10 pastoral acres in historic Newnan, about 30 min south of ATL airport.
The property of Vinewood was built in the 1850s and includes a beautiful plantation home where your wedding party can prepare for the day, a grand old pecan tree to hold the ceremony and The ( 5,000 sq ft) Stables which was converted to comfortablly accomodate your guests in a warm & rustic setting. Please take a look at our website, facebook page (has the most pics) and slideshow to get a sampling of what Vinewood has to offer as well as this sweet short story video of one of our weddings.  Link to Jenna & Bryan Short Story Video

If you are looking for a vintage inspired, rustic location you will absolutely fall in love with Vinewood!!  ...I know I did :)  Please feel free to call with any questions and let us know you found us on The Knot.

    Hi!
The Cotton Warehouse is a wonderful place to get married! http://www.thecottonwarehouse.com/

Belle Terra is a beautiful venue that is reasonable on the price. It in on a lake, so an outdoor wedding is ideal. Check out their website. The owners are very helpful.

  • Variety Works at the James Madison Inn in Madison Georgia is a great venue for a barn wedding.

  • Vinewood is really popular. Serenbe is really beautiful too, but pricey.

We actually got engaged at the Forest Hills Resort in Dahlonegha, but I'm not sure I'd want my wedding there. That's more mountain man wedding.
