Ideas! -- kinda long

Hello ladies! Thanks to everyone that gave me advice and words of encouragement last time I posted.

Unfortuantely, I am still without a budget. I've spoken to my dad about getting an "idea", and he just wants me to look around, ask around, and as he says "we'll go from there". That being said, I'm a thrifty person at heart, and as much as I want my wedding to be special and glamorous, I feel I can do that on a small budget. My biggest downfall? VENUES are expensive! Lol... I'm sure everyone here can relate that that, but I read an awesome quote today and it's a long the lines " if it's just you and him, what would you want?" I found this fantastic idea of renting a vacation house in the mountains, and having it there, but that fell through as the owner of the property would not allow a "party" of that size due to liabilty issues, which I can understand.

So, ladies, the bottom line: Shoot out some idea's on alternative ceremony/reception places. I am still asking around at possibly using someone's house/yard to do what we want, I just haven't had much luck. I am open to suggestions! No idea is a bad idea, so give me what you got, and I am excited to see what everyone has to say. Thanks so much!

I'm not sure where you are exactly, but what about Piedmont Park?  I hear they have a lovely place to marry.  Or what about a restaurant.  I'm not sure what the size of your guestlist.  What about libraries or museums.   I would definitely look for outside venues.  Also, what about a friend's or family members' home?  I'm having my ceremony in my backyard.  I know others who have done the same.

Try a venue search on WeddingWire.com, they have great vendor reviews.

I am still looking into friend and family places. As for number of guests, we are looking at an estimate of around 100. I do like the idea of a library. I am going to have to look into that route as well. I wouldn't mind having it here, but unforuantely the yard isn't very forgiving as there are tree's in awkward places, and it just wouldn't work. Also, parking would be a big issue. I'm actually near downtown Lawrenceville in terms of location. Thanks for the tips!

some affordable venues i looked into:
    Roswell River Landing
    Smyrna Community Center
    Douglasville Cultural Arts Center
    The Atrium
    The East Point Tower
    Le Bam

You could also check out local state parks - a lot of them have pavilions or gazebos you could use, possibly for free.

Restaurants tend to get a little pricey.
