Hello!I didn't want to destroy her post with fertility talk so I thought I would start a new thread.  Yes I have PCOS and Mild Endo.  I have a few other issues (tilted uterus and etc) too.  For my oldest I got pg with her after 6 years of low to mid grade fertility tx.  Then finally found a great fertility specialist and got pg with her after 1 try!  With my 2nd daughter we were on a "break" from treatments (no hormones) and she came by a miracle.  My Dr's are still stumped to this day.  My ExDH and I were married 11 years and NEVER once did we use protection and that was the ONLY time I ever got pg lol.I know clomid does not work for me....it just makes me crazy (ask anyone who knew me when I was going through tx vs. now lol).  I really don't want to do any type of tx at all.  My DH has never had children before.  He is 32.  Again I have two daughters 10 & 6 from my ex ExDH.  It is hard because they are so independent and have their own great little personalities and NO DIAPERS and no more daycare either (I am off work by the time they are out of school). Ugh so tough to start over again.  But he really wants his own child or atleast try. If we fail atleast we tried is the way he thinks.  But if we don't try at all it is like denying him that.Right now I am on YAZ.  It keeps my ovaries undercontrol and periods very regular.  I have tried other BC and it makes the cysts even bigger.  So, this one has been good for me.  SO you know how much fun PCOS is when you are not on anything.  My Dr. wants to try me with metformin to help control everything after I am off the pill......What does your Dr. suggest?  What have you had to do tx wise?  How old are you?  How old are your kids?

  • Sounds like you are very similar to me. I too have PCOS and also a mild case of endo. Lucky us! With my previous husband I tried for a little over 2 years with an RE but never ovulated. I did a lot of the standard treatments - clomid, femara, follistim, gonal-f. We finally quit due to the stress and money. I have been off BC for about 2 years now as I had thyroid cancer and the treatment mixed with hormones from the BC made me a very crazy woman!! The good side is I have much less pain due to periods without the BC pills. My DH and I met with a new RE in September to start planning out a plan of attack this time. He wants to start me on metformin again I was on it for about 6 months but went off it due to a drug trial I did. This time my RE will do metformin, follistim, gonal-f and trigger shots. He isn't going to mess around, after 3 cycles if I am not responding we will re-evaluate more aggressive routes. It's just a matter of when we start the treatments. I too am really mixed on starting to try again. After doing it once, I know how emotional I get and how hard it is on us both financially and emotionally/physically. I would prefer to go the adoption route first and save up for treatments. My DH wants to do the opposite. He comes from a large family (10 kids) so of course he wants kids soon. He is more understanding about the whole process after doing the fertility trial with me the past couple months. I don't think he really understood what it takes to do fertility treatments.

  • Fertinex & Pergonal worked for me (with HCG of course).  Then we did ultra sound monitoring along with that to watch the eggs.  My Dr. wanted to try the first cycle with a "natural" approach.  So we had ALOT of sex when they told us I was going to ovulate within the next 24 hours.....we were told to have sex every 4 hours.  After that day I didn't want to be touched for the next month!!!!  And yes very 4 hours even meant in the middle of the night.  Well that worked.  My probelm is that Dr. has since moved (I did my tx in Northern CA) and the Fertility clinic has since changed hands many times.  So I do not have a copy of my medical records for that and the Fertility specialist in town doesn't believe that my Dr. would have taken that much of a "reckless" approach.  They want me to do IUI.  I was also on Clomid for 2 years straight.  The Dr. also doesn't believe me on that one either.  Very irritating.  I KNOW what I have been through!!!  All this is reason that I fear going through this again.

  • Thanks for the quick reply, sorry for the delay, I had no internet last night. I talked to DH last night and we decided to wait until February or March to really start trying again. This gives us some time to save up for our cruise next year and also not have the baby in 2010. I have baby fever but am not really ready to take on the pains on infertility yet. Hopefully when we do start again we will not have to do an IUI. My RE is like your last one where he will monitor the first cycle and have me do intercourse a lot. If that doesn't work then we will do IUI for a couple cycles before going onto IVF if needed.
