Visit from the caterer

The caterer came to our house tonight (even though he doesn't live near)! I'm so happy, he really understands what kind of things we want. And we're picky, so that isn't easy ;-). But he took his time, was here for more than two hours. And he's very flexible and can work within our budget. So happy! We'll have to wait for the contract and the final details, because december is obviously very busy for him, but I'm sure we're going to sign with him.

  • How fun that he came to you and you didn't have to go to him!  Did he bring food samples?  What kinds of food are you planning on having at your wedding?

    Anniversary
  • Hi all,

He didn’t bring food, but he makes the fresh dishes for a shop around the corner, and they are usually great, so I trust him. There will be a tasting later on.

After the ceremony, we’ll have a longish cocktail time with apps (2-3 hours is traditional here), which will be all vegetarian (there will also be an icecream cart, but we ordered that somewhere else). He had some really sophisticated little bites, but I don’t know how to translate them (I think you know by now that English is not my mother tongue). After that, he’ll set up a buffet with stations. I thought we didn’t have the budget for that, but for a bigger group that is apparently no problem. There will be a pasta buffet, a classic meat-and-potato buffet and a more north African buffet with couscous and grilled stuff, all with lots of veggies and summer salads. For me, having a ‘green’ caterer was really important and he works with local produce that he gets straight from the farmers.

The only thing that I’m a bit worried about is that we’ll pay per bottle instead of a fixed price. I know that it will probably be less expensive this way, and he can give averages of what people usually drink, plus his drinks are fairly cheap or we can provide our own if we want, but still, I wish we could write this in our budget in advance.
