Butterfly

I asked already in the Monday thread, but not sure if you saw. Were you able to resolve a bunch of stuff with your purse?

I missed the whole saga last week while sick but saw it when I was catching up on posts. I'm so sorry that happened :( I lost my purse when I was mugged in Mexico (the day I met fiance, actually) and that was a huge pain in the butt for like a month and I wasn't even dealing with weddings or purchasing houses.

Hope you were able to work some stuff out!

Re: Butterfly

  • I just saw the Monday thread but hadn't responded yet! thank you for thinking of me :)

I got all my credit cards cancelled, got a new driver's license, filed a claim with my homeowner's insurance, got my apartment re-locked and re-keyed, filed a police report, and filed a fraud alert with the three main credit agencies. I am trying to be super cautious since out mortgage is still in underwriting.

The owner of our building (one of our partners) is in charge of our security system here. It is super secure and tracks every single time someone swipes a card to come in and every time our doors open. He is 100% convinced that no one from the "outside" broke in and stole my purse.  (the same thing happened the last two times people had $$ go missing). He is convinced that it is one of the secretaries here.

I am actually somewhat close to this woman - in fact, I was upstairs talking to her about it on Thursday, after my purse went missing - and she is always nice to me, and it breaks my heart that there is even a possibility that this woman took my purse. I had a pair of crystal earrings from my godmother in there, plus my ipod that I have had for three years with all my music on it. She can have my money...I am just still so angry about the whole thing. UGH.

Sorry to go on a rampage. To answer your question, yes, I think I have gotten everything taken care of that I Possibly could at this point, but everything is still missing and it doesn't look like any of it is coming back.
  • That's soooo sad and devastating. It's such a violation. The money, sure - it's sad to lose that, of course, but it's really stealing your earrings and purse and iPod and things that are irreplaceable is just so incredibly hurtful, especially if it's someone you "know". :( I'm glad it's at least in the process of being resolved, but it's still SO frustrating to hear. HUGS.

  • thank you bridetobe :)

I felt better about the whole thing when I thought it was a random crazy person that had broken into our building, I would have preferred it that way. Like you said, it's just a complete violation. She can take my money and I would even give her more $$ if she would return the jewelry, ipod, flash drives, pictures, key chains that I have collected from random vacations, etc.......UGH! it SUCKS. I am sorry that this happened to you in Mexico, because everything about it is horrible!
  • Oh my gosh, I can't believe it might be someone you work with and know. That would definitely make me feel sick going into work now. I'm so sorry girl! I hope your manager works to really investigate what happened and find the person responsible.

  • thanks bmore...it really is horrible. The owner and my boss are both really upset by the whole thing. Apparently a few people made questioning comments to the suspect on Friday after all the research had been done and fingers started pointing to her...and she didn't show up for work this morning. Interesting, eh?

I mean, I'm all for innocent until proven guilty, but . . . really, that is so shady. :(

  • Ugh!!! Sometimes I just want to ask the person directly "Did YOU do this???" but I have to hold back in case the person is actually innocent. So I just go around feeling all awkward around the person.

I hope they figure out who did this so everybody can be at peace!

  • mekiakoo that is EXACTLY how I feel. I just wanna be like, ok, all fingers are pointing to you. did you do it? if so, give me back my stuff, NOW. But, you cant just point your finger at someone when they might not have done it. sigh. soooo frustrating.
  • OMG that is ridiculous that is now turning out to be potentially someone in your office.  I wouldn't even be able to look that girl in the eye anymore if I suspected her of taking my purse!

    Anniversary
  • =( *hugs*  you have all of your music on your computer right??  you can easily transfer it onto a new ipod once you're able to get one??

Well to whomever stole from you and anyone else in your office: payback is a b*tch and charma is a son of b*tch...those are the words from FI to you =)
