How much did you pay for flowers?

Hi There,
I'm new to the boards, and actually mother of the bride. The bride lives on the west coast so I am doing alot of things here on my own. Just wondering how much everyone is paying for flowers.
This is what I am shopping for
Bridal  bouquet; 4 bridesmaids' bouquets; two flower girl baskets of rose petals ); 1 small mother's bouquet; 6 wrist corsages; 12 boutonnieres; two large ceremony arrangements; placecard table arrangements; 6 small cocktail table arrangements; flowers and mechanics for 24 centerpieces;(1/3 tall with curly willow and some flowers, 1/3rd table scaped and 1/3 low), sweetheart table flowers; flower set-up; and flower delivery.  Wanted to spend no more than $2000, but starting to think that is unrealistic. Thinking more like $3000.
Any thoughts and if other brides can give me a ball bark of what they are paying it would help alot.

Thanks :)

I think the 24 centerpieces are going to blow your budget.  That's a lot!

    Congratulations to your daughter!

I agree with PP, I think your centerpieces are going to put you over budget.  I see you have a variety of high/low, so that's good.  You could also consider doing a variety of floral and non-floral centerpieces, depending on your venue/style, etc.

I personally am paying quite a bit more than your budget for our flowers, but I also know our florist is expensive.  I think it depends on who you go with and how willing they are to work with you.  There are ways to keep things in line....cheaper flowers, more filler/greens, etc.  I would just start doing some legwork and call around to see if you need to reevaluate your budget.  Good luck!

If you are willing to reuse flowers, you can save alot. We reused the bouquets for the sweetheart table and cake table

We also did candle centerpieces instead of flowers to save money - the centerpieces are what kill your budget

In addition, ask for flowers that are in season.

Here is a pic of what we did

Beautiful pictures samanthas. Actually we have a big wall to decorate at the reception area and we are planning on reusing the BMs and the moms flowers to decorate it with. I figured the moms can carry flowers vs wrist corsages and that way play a double role. I love the candles. My daughter is going for a tree theme, so she wants to use alot of curly willow branches. Just curious, do you know how big your tables were?

I had a very similar set up to what youre asking for - some high centerpieces with curly willow and votives and hydrangeas.  We didnt have 24 though, we had about 16 tables.  So all totalled bouquets, cocktail hour tables, escort card table, sweetheart table, bouts for the guys, etc... we spent about $3500 on flowers.

I think the actual cost for our centerpieces was something like 75 for low and 100 for high?

Not sure... I think 10 feet..

If she is doing willow branches, there are sites you can buy them from and she could make centerpieces out of them

There are lots of great diy centerpiece pics with willow branches.
You could provide the vases and branches and get flower branches from the florist for a small amt and do something like this (I found this pic on google images)

Samanthas, Actually we wanted to do exactly that. The problem is the place we are having the wedding at will not set them up for us and they only allow vendors(or friends) in 2 hours before the reception starts to set up. I cannot ask any family or friends to do this 2 hours before the wedding as they will be guests at the wedding. Transporting them would also be an issue. Honestly, I would love to be able to do them on my own. I guess some places are more flexible than others.

Most places will let you bring stuff the day before and store them in the back.

I bought all of my vases over in boxes (With paper separating each one)  two days before.

If your venue won't set stuff up, I highly suggest a Day of Coordinator. I used Erin from Proud to Plan and she did the setup of my venue and she is incredible. She is so creative and helped me with my timeline, laced me in my dress and ran the ceremony too. She even packed it all up at the end of the night and put it in the car so none of my family or friends had to worry about a thing.

Day of coordinators aren't too expensive and give you so much in return.

This place has a list of what you can and can't bring the day before. The centerpieces need to be brought to the venue already put together the day of the wedding. They cannot be assembled on premises (says in their contract) These centerpieces are pretty big once assembled. I would do 24 tall pieces if I was making them. I would love to hire a Day of Coordinator, but to be honest at this point the budget is almost tapped out. Day of Coordinator vs Videographer. I am thinking a DOC is about $1000?

Silk02000 where is your daughters wedding located? What's the date? I have a couple florist in mind who I think could accomodate your ideas and stay close to your budget. Especially if you're open to using less expensive flowers that will be in season.

Yes, it is about $1,000.  This is a hard decision! I would try to move the budget around to you can have both.

And most florist put the centerpieces together on site. My florist did that for the ceremony piece and placecard piece. She did the bouquets beforehand.

I used Susan Hart for a coordinator and she was significantly under $1K.  Her number is 609 737-6461.  I agree with the pps, I feel like you could cut your flower budget by doing your own centerpieces and with the extra money you could hire a DOC, who would help with the centerpieces along with everything else.

Sometimes your venue will provide a day of coordinator as well -- we had one who helped with the setup in addition to Susan who was with us all day long.

Our DOC helped us to reuse church flowers, too.  She loaded up the altar arrangements, pew decorations, and even the big barrels of mums we had outside the church and repurposed them at the reception.  So in your case, the ceremony arrangements could become the placecard table arrangements.

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful information.  The ceremony and reception are being held at Knowlton Mansion in May 2011.

I am getting about the same amount of flowers you are looking for including a splurge on the card table center piece.  I came in right at $4000.  I hope this helps.  I also agree with the others.  I am inteviewing DOC's this weekend!

My florist cost about $1500 which included a cascading bouquet, 4 BM bouquet, a FG bouqet, 4 corsages, 10 bouts and we have 12 centerpieces.  Our bridal parties were $800 and the remainder was the CP.   I will get the number for our florist I really like her

The two quotes that I got were in DE and for slightly less than you are looking for.  both were b/w $4300-$5500.  I asked for mainly flowers and very little filler though.

I think I need to look at other florists :)
