April 2010 Weddings

Anybody else have wedding hangover

I guess that's how you can describe it. As happy as I am to be married, I'm a little sad that it's all over. All the planning all the anticipation; This weekend my husband and I sorted through all the shower/wedding gifts and finally put everything away. The only evidence left that there was a wedding recently (besides the bills) is my dress that's still draped across the banister. I can't bring myself to put it away lest it underscore the finality of the end of my wedding planning. I''m giving myself another week to make a decision on what  to do with it. I intermittenly descide to ebay it and at the same time preserve it.. I just can't decide. Either way, I'm a little sad it's all over.

Re: Anybody else have wedding hangover

  • You're not the only one! I still find myself checking the wedding blogs. It's addictive and I'm sad it's over. I loved the whole process! Cry
  • Glad to see I'm not alone.. Heck, just the other day, I was lamentiing about what will become of the April 2010 board..I'm going to miss all the buzz from my fellow brides..We're not planning a family right away, so now, it feels like there's no next big event to prepare for the way we had all the pre-wedding festivities and family gatherings leading up to our day..

  • My husband (woah, weird) actually looked this topic up because he's so worried about me falling into a slump now and he said post-wedding depression is actually very common. You spend all this time planning for something then in a blink, it's over. The best solution he found was to just find a new hobby to invest your time into. So if it's not baby making, maybe scrapbooking or taking a class? We've agreed to do some major spring cleaning and house renovations... whatever we can do to prevent the wedding blues! HTH!

  • I'm on the other boat with this one, I hated planning the wedding and am thrilled that it's over. Now I finally have my time (and my closet from decorations) back to myself. I still have to put together our wedding scrapbook, but I can't do that until I get all my pictures.
  • i'm kinda in the middle... i had fun planning but everything went so well and everyone was so happy that i'm satisfied... lol i even asked FI... hahahaha ER Husband to do it again next year!  I am a lil sad it's over but glad it was a success and happy to be a MRS!
  • I know the feeling...I wish I could go back to that day and do it all over again.  I wouldn't change anything but I would love to experience it again!
  • I'm in the middle as well. It was fun while it lasted and I wish I could do it again, but I am happy to be married and to move on with my life with my new husband. We are both going to focus on finding new jobs and I want to learn how to cook/bake better and I'm even thinking of starting up my own blog!

Plus I have tons of other stuff I but on the back burner because of the wedding, and I'm glad I can get back into them!
  • I've got to say, I had such a blast planning, but I do not envy girls that are still planning, I feel like it was a huge and wonderful step in my life but I'm so ready to move on to the next adventures!

@MandahGirly: I was thinking of starting a blog too, to record our new adventures as a married couple, I guess I just hope I'm interesting enough ;)

  • Marick - I would TOTALLY read it! I'm going to focus mine on cooking/baking, and maybe a little bit on local restaurants too.
  • I too had the wedding hang over.. and most of the people who were in the wedding.. with the wedding on the 9th only now are we getting life back.. and we still have a ton of stress that we are dealing with becuase of the move and our roommates move and bills and the trip to the folks... so yeah.. but ive been handeling the wedding downs by scrapbooking the hell out of the wedding... that and i have all the pages from the scrapbook table instead of a guest book.. so the scrapbook filled up fast!! which was great!
    but yeah.. hang over.. really!
