We didn't shop there because I had heard that their dresses were very expensive.  You could only enter the store if you had an appointment, and you had to take off your shoes.  A little weird, but the expensive-ness is the reason we didn't go there. How sad for the brides!  Hopefully they will be compensated.

Doesn't Palmer House have a room for their dresses? Wonder how their connection will effect Palmer...I didn't buy mine from there because it was so expensive, either.

I did buy my dress from the shop. The owner, Patty Burling, originally offered us a several hundred dollar discount so that the dress would be more affordable for my parent's budget. My father is a police officer, so this was my one big splurge. I ordered it in May and was told it would take 10 weeks to make and deliver. Two weeks ago was right at my 10 weeks so I called in to get a status check. The phone had been disconnected so I drove over to see what was going on. The doors were closed and inventory gone. I spoke to Palmer next door and was informed that they had simply closed the doors and had not returned. I went to the police immediately because my parents had paid a lot of money and I expected a product in return. I was the first to bring it to the attention of the Fort Collins Police. Within the next day, we had over 25 more complaints. As of today, we have a total of 51 brides that we know of. The owner has been unavailable for comment, but between the 51+ dresses she owes and the 10 thousand dollars in back-rent, she faces a class three felony conviction that includes jail time and hefty fines. I have begun my search for a new dress. Some lucky girls were able to work with the police to find their gowns and veils, however, we have come to learn that several orders were never even placed. Mine included. We also found out that even with the discount Mrs. Burling had given us, she still overcharged above what the designer gowns are supposed to be marked as. The handling of my dress alone illustrates the malicious intent she had all along, between overcharging and not ordering my gown, to deceive and steal our money. We are waiting to see what kind of restitution we can get out of the prosecution; however, needless to say, this has put quite a damper on the whole wedding and gown shopping experience. Fortunately for us, we have until next July to find a solution.

I did buy my dress from Mountain Ave.  Sadly I regret the moment I walked through the doors and met Patty Burling the owner.  We bought not only my wedding dress there but my MOH and my Mom's dress all of which we did not see and will not see.  I have had to scramble to get a replacement not only myself but also MOH and my Mom.  I did go to the Bridal Collection and they have been wonderful!  I was able to get dresses for everyone, including me!!  The Fort Collins Police are investigating the situation and as of right now at least 80 brides have come forward with complaints against Mountain Avenue Bridal and Patty Burling.  If anyone else has been involved with Mountain Avenue please contact Brian O'Maley with the Fort Collins Police.  Just makes me so sad this had to happen, it has really put a shadow over the whole process.   :(

I know a wonderful lady that can alter your replacement dresses quickly and afforadably. She can get your dress ready in a few days if necessary. Call Cathy at (719) 433-4877.
