Anyone doing a non-traditional theme?

I've always thought the idea of doing a halloween, forties, masquerade ball or other non-traditional themes would be so much fun...but of course, did a more traditional wedding for myself. Anyone here braver than me?

We're going very non-traditional but not so much theamed. We're going with the idea of "formaly-Informal" We're doing pics and a private wedding vows earlier in the day, after getting ready but before guests arrive. We are doing a night wedding but a cocktail and appitizer reception... Oh yeah and we're having it on a Thursday. My thought is GO FOR IT! the point is to have fun and CELEBRATE what makes the two of you special. And plus your guests will be talking about it for a long time. Liz

Not sure if this is traditional or not but we went with aspen theme. But no matter what it is very Coloradoish. We had aspen leaves every where including in the bouquets. Also we had MnM theme cause we are Mark and Marcea. Pics are in bio if interested. We tied them togther with the colors of Brown and Gold.

We don't have a theme, but we have some untraditional aspects to the wedding:-I scavanged a bunch of mismatched pots from Goodwill and Arc, and will be potting them with flowers for the centerpieces.-FI's wedding ring is made of wood not metal-BMs are wearing different shades of blue and chose their own dress from anywhere they wanted (much more common now than when we started planning)-GMs are wearing argyle sweaters and top hats! No matchy suits and colorful vests for them :) (no offense, just not our style).-Doing our own music on FI's laptop (also more common than when we started)-Ugly flower bulbs for wedding favors :) Nothing too crazy, just not typical. I did my best to get everything for decoration recycled (AKA used :), I also tried to go through small, independently owned businesses for my vendors, and have locally grown food for the reception.

JForeman- what an eco-conscience bride you are! I am reading a book about wedding on a budget, and I have to say, I wish I would've read this BEFORE my wedding. There are a lot of good ideas!

A coworker of mine was married in early July and did a Hawaiian theme here in Colorado! The ceremony was held outdoors, with fun decorations and bright colors, and barbecue.  Then, and the bride and groom each performed a solo hula for the other! It was amazingly fun and beautiful.  And it definitely gave us all something to talk about for the rest of the day!
