Surprise for FI

So, I am arranging for the caterer to bring out strawberry shortcake sometime during the reception as a surprise for FI because it is his favorite food of all time. I am having such a hard time keeping the secret, I am so excited for the look on his face!!!! I just had to blab about it to somebody!Is anybody else planning any surprises for their wedding day?

    Oh I am sooo jealous!  I so wanted strawberry shortcake,as it is my favorite as well!  Oh well- it just didn't work out.  However, Fi LOVES bluegrass and although he doesn't know it I have had a bluegrass band scheduled for months!  It was really hard to keep a secret for awhile, but to tell you the truth, I have been so busy that I keep forgetting all about it!  It will be great to see how surprised he is!

    I tried to surprise DH and it totally failed. I had the DJ play Michael Buble's version of the Spiderman Theme song when we entered the reception, while he thought it was going to be something else. He loves Spiderman so I was super excited about it. However, I forgot that we were entering the reception from the end of the room opposite the DJ and people would be cheering, so he totally couldn't hear it. I was a little bummed. When SIL got married, she had a great surprise during the ceremony. She had asked and asked and asked her husband to go ring shopping and he always had an excuse not to go, so she ended up just going and getting a set she liked. He was fine with it until about a week before the wedding when we were at the mall and he happened to take a glance at a jewelry display and found a wedding band he really liked. She was so pissed at him since he never went with her, but went back and got that one instead and didn't tell him. So as they're exchanging the rings during the ceremony his eyes got huge and he started grinning, it was great. Too bad he turned out to be a douchenugget and they're getting divorced.

    FI is quite the golfer (almost made the tour) so I'm having a golf groom's cake made for him in his favorite flavor. I also tried to keep his real wedding gift a surprise but he knew it had arrived and I showed him. I'm so weak! He collects really nice watches so he takes it out of its box once a week just to look at it! At least he doesn't know about the cake.

    I planned to surprise FI with a groom's cake (Starbucks coffee cup since he's a total addict)...but I totally blew it when I had him proofread our menu & he saw the flavor of the groom's cake & guessed that it was going to be a Starbucks coffee cup)...STUPID ME! I have managed to keep his wedding gift a suprise.  He LOVES to cook (usually makes our dinner)...so I'm getting him a personalized cookbook with all of our favorite recipes, recipes from his childhood (getting FMIL to help but still trying to keep it a secret from her b/c she's got a big mouth! LOL b/c right now all of his recipies are on little sheets of paper & they are bound to get lost! LOL
    no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

    Aww, those are all so cute!I know what you mean- I tell him EVERYTHING, so keeping a secret from him has been really really hard (I almost showed him my dress, just out of habit!). We are having a string quartet for our ceremony and I *finally* found one that can arrange a classical version of "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode, which is our song. I am walking down the aisle to it and I have almost let it slip about a 100 times. I even made the string quartet promise to keep it a surprise!

    the grooms cake was a surprise for dh. he loved it and so did all our guests.

    That is so cute, foreman! I love that idea! I got him a gift, but he found out about it, b/c I was listening to a voicemail from Trice Jewelers about my engagement ring, and they started talking about the watch! I was so pissed. I was on speakerphone. I urgently turned it off, but he knows he's getting a watch. I was really sad about it for a day or two.I thought about getting all the groomsmen red sox hats and to have them all put them on at one point in the reception, but I am running out of cash!

    these are all cute stories!we are planning to do a "rock the reception" type dance as a surprise.  we are going to take a few lessons and bust out our sweet moves during the first dance. haha

    Love all your ideas :) I think surprising people is so much fun! However, keeping a secret, especially from FI is torture for me! he is my confidate usually, so I am dying to tell him...but I won't! I will stay strong for one more month!
