More than likely.  The civilian employees here won't be allowed to work (military will take over) and if they're not here to "supervise" us contractors then we can't work either.  At least that's what we're being led to believe.  But no one will say for sure.  And of course, even if the civilians get back-pay, we won't :(

Oh, and hubs is a federal employee with the FAA.  So we've got the potential for no income for that period of time.  Awesome.

Ouch!  It's it's 2 weeks you're elligible for unemployment right?  So you can sign up for that and get some money before you're missing a check.  We were told we weren't essential so we won't even be allowed in the gate.  FI will be allowed since he's military - this is why I have the oh sh*t fund!  I'll be on my cruise so at least I won't be sitting around bored if it does happen.  It's a mess.

Morning....happy friday!

DH is bringing our kitties into the office later today so I can have the vet poke, prod and implant them.   I hope they don't give DH too much trouble getting into their carriers.  It will be nice this weekend when they are all punk and quiet from the shots though (does that make me a bad cat parent?).

Amer- You poor girl! You can't catch a break! But... FYI- you can pay a dollar a month, and no hospital/medical facility can ever take you to collections as long as you're making a payment of some sort. Dead serious.

Our contract is fully funded for this fiscal year so in theory we would still be able to work.  However, they like to play the "supervision" card even though I'm not supervised by a federal employee on any other day of the year.  We're trying to make the case that if they close, the Academy stays open and the mids still need to use the computers and therefore we should be here to support them.  But unfortunately, we don't make that decision.

We've been told that the last time this happened, in 1995, the federal employees were all presented with information on how to apply for unemployment.  And that shut down lasted 11 days.  We're hoping the same holds true this time, although no one is giving any confirmation of that yet.

Well, we've got 2 more weeks to wait it out...again.  But lucky for you that you'll be on your cruise!

Dibs - all we were told was you're not essential if it does happen.  But yes, we have 2 weeks to worry.  I agree with the supervision crapola, how is this any different then when we get a half day of etc and you don't?  Hopefully with the 2 extra weeks they can figure something out.   

Paprika - eh it's one of those things that you don't have control over... so you just prepare incase it happens.  I try not to stress over things I don't have control over.  As long as I have a job to come back to, I'm ok.

Yeah, I know.  This is not my first rodeo with medical bills.  I have the worlds crappiest insurance and I blow through the alocatted money quickly.  I should have been expecting this, but it's been a while since I had this procedure done and I forgot how expensive it is.

Jesster-  hospitals/medical companies are usually really good about it.  If you call them and say like 'I'll give you $xx for the next so and so months" they are usually pretty flexible.

Hopefully March 17 -- we're still waiting on the tax abatement b/c we've heard horror stories about a few of these investors who have claimed they've put in the paperwork and they haven't, or they don't have everything done they need to, etc.
If it is March 17, we might be drinking green beer in the new place instead of champagne!

I'm hoping Cara is getting the cats microchipped, and not creating bionic cats or anything. Actually, now that I think about it, bionic kitties might be really cool.

HOLY COW 2 pages and its only 11am... I enjoyed reading all of the posts though since this is the highlight of my mornings/afternoons lately!

TGIFF!!! I could not be happier that it is FRIDAY!! My DH and I both are off tonight and are heading to HH with my inlaws for my FIL birthday, which is usually a good time... Small bar, cheap drinks, bar food... SOUNDS LIKE AN AMAZING FRIDAY TO ME! Ha Ha...

Our house is slowing becoming a house again, not a shelter for boxes... everything has it's place now. THANK GOD! I was so tired and trying to find everything in boxes... The painting is all done.. Now we need to replace the bathroom floor and purchase/hang things on the walls....

Confession: I still DO NOT have our thank yous done Sunday will be 4 months.. YIKES! Nor do I have our wedding album picked out... We have had the "proof" since we got back from Hawaii, on November 21st! I think my photographer hates me
