Small Venue?

Hi,

I just got engaged and joined the site. You ladies have wonderful suggestions. My fi and i come from small families so our wedding will likely be around 50 people.

I wanted something nice. We have a lot of guests coming from out of town. With that being said we want something in Center City so guests will easily be able to get around and see the sites.

I am looking for something like the Tendenza or the ballroom at Le Meridian but less pricy. Any suggestions? I would even opt for a restaurant. I am hoping to find great food and  decor.

Thanks for your help?

I am not sure about pricing but I think the Hotel Palomar has a room for smaller weddings. Also, the Morris House Hotel.

A Philly Bride had her wedding at a resturant and it looked wonderful...shes not on here that much, but someone may know her info for you.

Also look on off nights, lots of venues are cheaper and have smaller minimum numbers on Friday Nights, Saturday Morning/Afternoon, or Sundays

Yes, one of the ladies had her reception at Estia in Center City. The pics are amazing, and it might be the right size for your party!

Also, I second the Morris House Hotel -- I would have loved it as a venue, but our guest list was too long!

You might also want to check out www.partyspace.com - you can search venues by location!

Thanks. I just called Morris and they are going to email me information. I forgot about that hotel. I actually had dinner there about a year ago and I thought the food was good. I will also look at partyspce. I really wanted something a little more modern though. Or at least the wow factor.

Rom--I don't have any venue ideas for you, but I just wanted to say WELCOME!!!  Congrats on your engagement!  I look forward to hearing about your plans.

Do you have a date yet?

Thanks for the welcome. I do not have a date yet.Since I am having a small wedding I need to be more flexible with the date. I just got a qoute from Morris and it is above the amount I want to spend. I am looking for 130/pp not including tax and service fee. It is hard to find great food and a great venue in the city for that price.

I think you're budget is totally doable.  I'm paying $135/pp including taxes and gratuities in CC.

Everytime someone posts a question about a small wedding I keep wanting to recommend this place near NOrthern Liberties  but I can't remember the name for the life of me!  Another knottie is having her wedding there and posted a while back about concern for safety which she eventually decided was not the case.  Anyone remember which venue I'm talking about?  It's a loft-like place (not Tendenza)

If you're open for restaurants and want the wow factor, R2L is a restaurant on the 33rd (ish) floor of One Liberty Place.  It's super modern and has amazing views and a definite wow factor.  I know dinner there is really pricey (you know, for a dinner out), but a wedding package might be around your mark.  They have lots of different party rooms.

I think Manayunk Brewery has receptions as well... but I don't know what kind of a feel you're looking for.  Manayunk Brewery might be a little less-formal feeling.

    Hi and Welcome.
I'm having my rehearsal dinner at Amada in Old City.  They have a small back dining room that seats 22 for that, but the entire back section that you can rent out for private parties can seat up to 65 ppl according to their website.   I'm not sure if you can get a bar deal with them too, our rehearsal dinner just includes the food, but that is well under your budget and then we're just going to pay for the bar tab.  The food would be a little more unique, but definitely delicious.

I also second checking out the venues at partyspace.  I'm getting married at the Powel House (which does not sound like your style) but I've had a great experience so far with Jeffrey Miller Catering.

I was a guest at the former knottie's wedding who went with Estia in Center City and it was a wonderful wedding.  Their cocktail hour/bar area is lovely and they hav a very private area in the basement of the restaurant that would work perfectly for 50 - there was more than enough room for a dancefloor and a DJ and she had about 65 or 70 guests total. It was a great wedding :)

Thanks for the wonderful suggestions. Partyspace.com is a great site. I am also going to call R2L and Estia too.
