cut my hair??

So I have really long hair, below my bra strap in the back, and its all pretty much one length- no layers.

I want my wedding hair sort of like the pic below- but I know her hair only lays so nicely in the back because its super layered, i.e. curls falling all over instead of all at one length.

So... I think I need to cut my hair.  Which makes me kinda sad since I've been growing it out ever since I had a bad layering hair cut like 5 years ago.

Anyone else cutting their hair just for the wedding?

Re: cut my hair??

  • I think you should talk to your hair lady first.

I have been growing mine out for the wedding and can't wait to cut it afterwards!!!
  • I did talk to my hair lady, she's the one who looked at the carrie underwood pic and said Id def have to cut major layers into my hair to get that look

    :-(

No, I'm not cutting my hair for the wedding.

HOWEVER, I have very long hair, too. When it's straight it's past the small of my back. It's also layered, etc. The curls do look a lot better when you have different lengths because the weight of your hair will uncurl the top portion. Andplusalso, I think the layers make it easier to take care of your hair.

Here is one of my trial pics:

  • I'm definitely getting a good cut the week before the wedding.  I'm shortening my bangs and going heavy on the layers. I LOVE the way freshly cut hair looks.   But then again, I have a really good hair cutting lady (note I didn't say stylist) that I have been using for years.    She's amazing with scissors but I still haven't found a great stylist.

  • well if you did then let her do the layers! They aren't that bad, when they get to be unmanagable is when they are around your face, so as long as she stays away from that you will probably enjoy losing all the weight that the hair gifts

  • ohhh lauria I like the way yours looks!

ok, I'll cut it.  It's only hair... it'll grow back!

p.s. I think as FI starts to get a bald spot on his head I get nervous that it means I'm getting too old to grow my hair long too.  I'm 26- ha!

  • Do it! layers look amazing and they are awesome to play with!  You can do a million things to give your hair style after the wedding too!  I am a huge fan of short short hair, I have been growing mine out a little for the wedding (shoulder length) after the wedding I keep letting it grow so I can donate it, then chop it off to chin length where I like it!

  • I'm getting my hair cut in layers because it's super long, almost to my butt and for me to get the curls that I want I ave to get layers. It's too long for the curls to stay in and it'll just be straigt by the end of the night. I kind of don't want to because it's so easy with my hair one length I dont' have to do anything with it on a day to day basis. But you gotta do what you gotta do for the big day!

^^ Everything that she said.  My hair is super long too - almost to my butt - and I had layers put in it at my last hair appointment.  I notice a TON of difference just in my every day hair too.  It's lighter, moves better and just looks nicer and healthier over all.

This is me too!  I've been taking biotin to help it grow faster, but I'll most likely cut it after the wedding.

Really think it through.  There have been times where I have desperately wanted a haircut and regretted it after.  Maybe you can get some layers but not as dramatic.
