POLL - Wedding Favorites

Yesterday we did a poll about wedding pet peeves, so I figured I'd follow up with wedding favorites.

What are things that you love to see at a wedding?

The dance floor packed all night.

    Love seeing at weddings:
    -DJ playing "danceable" music
    -Dinner served quickly and efficiently
-A "scheme" throughout.. I hate mix/match stuff (sorry this is a dislike too)
-Videographer/Photographer getting great shots without being in the way
-The Bride & Groom ENJOYING themselves.. not just talking to everyone

seeing the bride & groom together. I always feel bad when they're split up all night, visiting different families.

Not seeing the photographer. (I.E- out of the way, but getting great shots.)

    Candy bars. :)

Unique stuff, without trying too hard. Does that make sense? Like, a hot chocolate bar in the winter. An icecream truck in the summer. Things that are memorable.

Of course, a super happy bride and groom.  It's nice when they are enjoying themselves and not stressed out.

I agree!  Love a packed dance floor.  I really love a good band (I know that's a big splurge, but I love it!)

I also like a fun/original cocktail hour or dessert.  We are getting sliders at our cocktail hour cooked on a mini grill!  I am pumped for that.

Everyone out on the dance floor having a great time.
The bride and groom giving each other lovey looks all night. The more sugary sweet, the better!
    Wedding cake.

And they're the five best friends that anyone could have, the five best friends that anyone could have! Photobucket

I forgot to add in a LARGE bridal party... I should really just say MY LARGE bridal party. My bridal party was fantastic and all got along great! I know my friend is in a wedding with only 5 BMs and its a complete disaster.... So for my situation 10 was great... others not so much!

This is NOT strange.. I did the same thing. Also I checked out if they had a stall or private bathroom that I could fit in with THE DRESS!! :)

"Getting to talk to the Bride & Groom" is a LOVE when you are NOT the bride & groom! Ha... I used to love being able to interact/talk to the bride and groom.. until I became the Bride and I just wanted to enjoy myself the whole night as well as interact.. yet it was quite near impossible to do both with 200 guests!

<div>Our venue has a ladies sitting room, which I love!  </div><div>
</div><div>I get that the B&G can't spend a ton of time with everyone when they have 200 or more guests.  </div><div>We having a smaller wedding, only about 100, which FILs this is HUGE and a waste of money of course.</div><div>They also think an open bar is a waste of money.</div>

Your FILs think 100 is too many people and a waste of money? What is a normal size for them? Wow.. they would be disgusted with my wedding!

Open Bar is a must here in the states... IMHO but I know some cultures do not believe it is. I have a coworker who is Turkish.... Her wedding will be completely dry...

A great band or dj...heck just good music...I went to a wedding where the DJ sucked and we all sat at our table for hours...it sucked.

A good edible favor. (I dont need anymore LOVE coasters thank you!)

    - dance floor packed
    - and since no one wants to see a bride and groom not happy, I'll go with the two of them beaming from ear to ear at one another and at how everything turned out wonderfully.
    - Good food. and Great cake.
    - Open bar - let's just say if I only know my date - this may be more of a requirement. lol

    - Mason Jars - I just love love love the look of them. Hence me using them.
    - DIY touches. I want to see the personality of the bride and groom, not just a pretty wedding.

Open bars are very expensive here so they think it will be in the US as well.
They don't think they should pay for someone else to get drunk and they think people will drink more.  I pointed out that people drink plenty when they have to pay, they didn't listen.

After going on for months that it was included b/c it was expected in the area the excepted the open bar.  They seem to have to fight with everything.

They would be happy with 40 people for dinner and then invite more later.  You got that right, invite more later.  It's pretty common here.

Isn't that what the royals do (and are doing for Will and Kate)? This is definitely strange to me, even for the British it seems odd - especially with all their etiquette rules.

    I LOVE a non-choreographed first dance.

I have no beef with the choreographed dance, but I love watching the bride and groom just swaying together to their favorite song.  They aren't thinking "ok, 5,6,7, turn".   The stressful part is over, and they can relax and truly enjoy each other.

It's my favourite moment of the wedding.

    >>>a nice bathroom- I checked out all the ladies rooms at the venues we visited b/c of this, I realize it's strange.<<<

LOVE this.  I just want it to be clean- I have been in some where it's totally a mess.

-personalized ceremony.  The "do you, do you, you're married" ceremonies just don't do anything for me.
-No lines at the bars (loved our reception hall for this; we didn't wait at all all night!)
-low and simple centerpieces (I hate doing the head bob thing all night around tall or over-the-top centerpieces)
-Candy bars that are not one color (there is never enough for everyone, and half the time people don't like most of the candy up there- especially green candy!  I want my Reese's Mini Cups!)
-If you have kids, a fun-filled kids table (it was the hit of the evening for both kids and adults!)
-Donation favors (especially if you are not doing an edible favor.  Don't waste your money on me, give it to someone or charity that really needs it)
-different wedding dresses (ones that you can actually remember)
-BP that don't match (you can tell they are much more comfortable than if they were all in dresses that match)

    There are so many more...
