NWR: NYC Hotels

I need recs that aren't $300/night.  We are going to see a ballgame at Citi Field and spending the weekend.  I want something accessible to sightseeing and public trans to get us to the game.  I wanted to keep it at about $150/ night but don't think that's possible.  I have AAA.

I appreciate any recs.  I don't want a dump but I don't want to go broke.  It's for DH's birthday gift so I'm paying for this by myself.

Thanks Ladies!!

Wyndham Garden Hotel in Chelsea West
    Four Points Sheraton Chelsea

I've stayed at both when traveling for work. The corporate rate for each was around $150. I can't imagine that the regular rate is that much more expensive.

Thanks Bean.  I'll check them out.  I don't know NYC neighborhoods at all and i"m worried to book something nowhere near the city.  I've only ever traveled up to NYC for the day by train for dance so I've only spent time in Manhattan.

One other possibility that might be more cost effective would be to stay out on LI near Citi Field and then take the subway into Manhattan to do the sightseeing. I bet a hotel out in Long Island is a lot less expensive.

I did hotels.com already as well as the others and kyak too.  I wasn't sure of the neighborhoods so I put off booking a little.

We stayed at the Beacon Hotel last summer on the upper west side and had a blast.  Got a great rate - I think it was $255 or so for the night for four people in a two-bedroom suite.  They were far and away the best rate I found mid-summer for four people in the city; see what they have available :) They are about a block away from a couple of different subway stations and walking distance to Central Park as well.

Checking them out!!!  Thanks.  That's a good idea about staying closer to the stadium.  I guess it's the same really cause we'll have to use public trans either way.

Stacy--if you need help with neighborhoods... let me know.  I am pretty familiar with the different neighborhoods, and if there's one I'm unsure of... I know enough people living in NYC that they'd be able to help me out (seriously... almost every single person that I was friends with in college with lives in NYC)

sadly, I'm not finding the rates you all are mentioning.  I'm supposed to be looking at craft ideas not hotels right now, but I can't help it lol.
