NWR Busines Casual Clothing

Hi Ladies,

I have been MIA for a while, life has been so crazy. I just got promoted at work and will be travelling all over the US now. I am supposed to wear business casual clothing. I am so not a fashion/clothing person. Where I currently live has a horrible selection of places to shop. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase affordable business casual clothing online? I am hoping to find stuff that is machine washable since I will be in a hotel room a lot and don't want to spend a fortune on dry cleaning.

Thanks!

  • Ann Taylor Loft is good though perhaps a bit higher end than you'd like to go. Honestly, I've had alot of good luck with business casual clothing at places like Boscov's, Dress Barn, Kohl's. Hope this helps!

NY & Co has some good stuff but their clothes are really hard to fit.  I just went there today and tried on 5 different colors in the "same" style of pant and they all fit differently ranging from a 4 to an 8!  I agree Kohls is good and they have awesome sales especially if you have a charge card.  I find Ann Taylor Loft has great quality clothes that last which may be good for you even if they are a bit more expensive.

ETA: Congrats on the job promotion!

  • YES!  NY & Co is the best place to find reasonable bisness casual clothing, they always have great mix n match styles in nice selection of great color's plus they always have sales. I even have found great accessories also. Khol's I think you can find some things but NY & Co is kind of a one stop place.

  • Congratulations!!! What do you do for your work?? Do you like travelling a lot?

I remember being frustrated that I had to change my entire wardrobe because I'm not the most fashionable person on the earth (I love sweat pants/sweatshirts- I have like 20 of them!). I love Kohl's and NY & Company although I agree that NY's clothes fit differently even though they're in the same size. Usually for me I need to go an entire size or two smaller in order for the pants to fit. I love Kohl's because they're cheap and have great selections!

  • I live in Ann Taylor Loft (currently wearing a sweater from there, hahaha)! They have a really broad selection and are pretty true to size on most things

  • PPs suggestions are great, also target occasionally has cute stuff for the office. Congratulations on your promotion!

  • Pretty much my entire closet is Banana Republic, however, I am a manager there so I get a great discount. I realize that the clothes are pricey but stuff goes way way down on the clearance racks there.

Other brands that I own in that category are from Limited and a few pieces from Express.

  • Congrats! My go to is Jcrew, which can be pricey but they ALWAYS are having sales. They have a huge online selection so you can shop from anywhere in the world. I also buy work clothes at H&M a lot, but the Jcrew stuff just lasts so much longer. I have things I bought ten years ago from them that still look great.

  • I wear jeans to work...but when I have to dress up, my busniess casual clothing comes from Banana Republic (for tops) and Express (for pants).

  • congrats on the job!!! when i finished law school and had to start wearing big girl clothes to work, i went through the same transition (giving up my uggs, hoodies, and yoga pants everyday was hard!)

i would recommend The Limited. they have fantastic sales and almost all of their pieces are machine washable (i agree that this is sometimes a dealbreaker!) my blazers from Limited are dry clean, but it doesn't sound like you need anything this formal.  they have fantastic sweaters, dress pants, and pencil skirts.

i would also check out Express for their dress pants. the editor pants are the best fitting dress pants i have ever tried, and i love their wide leg styles.

i agree that banana republic is nice, but it is a big pricier than some of the other stores (and sometimes i find the clothes a bit too boring for my personal taste).

other weird suggestion: marshall's and T.J. Maxx.  i am a bargain hunter and LOVE finding deals in these stores.  peruse the clearance racks. i found a $100 michael kors dress shirt the other day for $15.

if you want any other hints just ask!!! i dress business casual most days and i LOVE fashion and shopping so am happy to help :)

Thank ladies! Lots of suggestions <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />  I work for a medical billing company, but I was promoted to a trainer, so I will be going to a 7 week school to be certified. After I am certified I will be travelling to doctor practices to train them on the EMR (electronic medical records) system that we sell. So have to look nice to train doctor's. I do love travelling, but we will see how it goes, as far as being away from fiancee all the time. He is prior military so I was use to him being gone all the time, but now that the table has turned we will see how it goes.

All the ideas are making me want to shop!

  • Thanks Bells, I have a Target, don't have a Macy's, NY & CO, Express, or Ann Taylor. But it does look like I can purchase thing online from those stores.
