Restaurant suggestions for a GTG in Philly (for DW)?

Hey girls! I'm having a DW in Florida so I haven't posted on this board in a long time! But I was hoping that you might be able to suggest some places in town for a GTG that I'm planning for the DW girls in the S. NJ/Philly/DC area. About 5 girls are coming to Philly, and I'm picking the restaurant since I live here! But I'm not originally from here, and I actually live in the suburbs, so I don't know the restaurant scene too well.

Could you guys be kind enough to suggest some places we could go for our GTG? It will be an lunch/mid-afternoon thing, somewhere that isn't too far from sightseeing in case they want to do that, a place that won't care if we end up sitting around chatting for a while, and parking nearby since they are all driving in.....and budget friendly since we are all saving for our weddings!

So far I was thinking Beneluxx.....never been there but the reviews and menu sound good.

What places have you guys gone to for your GTGs? TIA ladies!

There are a handful of restaurants (and street/garage parking) around the Rittenhouse area:

    Continental: http://www.continentalmidtown.com/
    Parc: http://www.parc-restaurant.com/
Ruby Tuesday at Liberty Place: http://www.yelp.com/biz/ruby-tuesday-philadelphia-2
    Cavanaugh's: http://www.cavsrittenhouse.com/
    Elephant & Castle: http://www.elephantcastle.com/
    And a bunch of others!

There are also some small bars/taverns on Sansom St.

i love continental.  me and my girlfriends always order a few apps & one salad and split it.  its super yummy and it really isnt that bad price wise if you do it that way.

What kind of sights do you want to see? If you're thinking more Old City/Independence Hall/etc:
Farmicia www.farmicicrestaurant.com - check the hours, though, they might close between lunch and dinner
    LaScala www.lascalasphilly.com
    Jones www.jones-restaurant.com
Kind of further from that (but still walkable) is El Vez www.elvezrestaurant.com

There are multiple locations of Marathon Grill throughout the city, and that might be a good choice www.marathongrill.com. I also recommend Parc and either location of Continental (Old City or Midtown near Rittenhouse). If you were thinking more around the Art Museum, let me know and I can recommend others.

Pretty much anywhere you go downtown, parking will be hit or miss. You will probably want to try and carpool if you can and just park in a lot, especially if you're going to be walking around/sightseeing for a while. Most of the metered spots are for 2-3 hours max. If you want to try somewhere where street parking is more accessible, there are some great restaurants in Northern Liberties.
And they're the five best friends that anyone could have, the five best friends that anyone could have! Photobucket

Thanks so much for your suggestions, gals. Do you recommend Continental Midtown over the Old City one? That one seems to have a cooler vibe going on. Parc also sounds pretty nice, and I've always heard great things about El Vez but never made it there. So those are my top 3! And Jones sounds good too but I was reading that it can be hit or miss...

LadyJ, there is a place I heard about in the Art Musuem area that has brunch with all you can drink mimosas or Bloody Mary's for $20...do you know that place? I can't locate it now! Would that be random to take people to that area? I never know what side of Philly (figuratively speaking) to show people!

Decisions, decisions! I have a hard enough time making restaurant decisions for FI, so I hate the pressure of figuring out where to take visitors (ok, not really hate it, but I just want to show them a good time!).

continental midtown.  they have an upstairs enclosed roof deck too that is more of a relaxed setting if you dont want to sit at the tables downstairs.

btw- el vez has amazing food.

Thanks Jackie! I saw that they had a rooftop deck but I assumed it would be closed right now. That's great that it's enclosed.
