What the heck to do with a tablet?

So - for Christmas - FI bought me a tablet.

And I honestly don't know what to use it for.

I have the facebook app - but I have that on my phone - and my phone is a hell of a lot easier to type on.

What do you ladies do with your tablets?

  • I don't have one and don't plan to. I have alot of friends and family who have one and they use it to play agmes on and check facebook, and youtube thats it.. thats sounds like alot of money to have spent to do that.
I would have returned it if Fi bought me one.

Well - it will be useful for school because I save all of my school notes on it - instead of printing them out and lugging around a 200 pound binder - but it's a pain in the butt to try to web browse on it.

    it's convenient for recipes.

Anyone else got any ideas? :p

EDIT: FI has one and loves it - but he's a tech-geek and loves everything technological.

  • I honestly have none, I don't ever plan on getting one for the same reason as Madisonpenny. Everyone that I know that has one plays Angry Birds or something on it. It's basically just a computer without a keyboard separate from the screen. I don't get the obsession with them.

  • Gotta jump on the bandwagon of not understanding them.

If I didn't have a laptop, I might consider a tablet but it just seems redundant to have both.

If I wanted to check something on the go, I would use my phone.  I guess you could use it for reading like a Kindle.
  • I got my FI the Kindle Fire for X-Mas and he is totally obsessed with it.  He can read books/magazines on it, watch movies, check sports scores, play games, check facebook, or web browse.  For him, it's the ultimate...lol.

I guess we have different priorities?

  • My FI got me the Kindle Fire because he knows how much I love to read. So far, that's mostly what I've been doing on it - reading the paper, a couple magazines and books. To me, it's just an added bonus that I can go on the Internet (when there's Wifi) because even though I have an Android, some of the web browsing is better on a bigger screen. But mostly, I wanted to cut down on buying books that I read once and don't really look at again.

I am going to use it for wedding things, too! I'm planning to take it to my florist and DJ to show them some inspiration pictures I found online instead of printing them out, etc. It's great to have for meetings with my DOC and photographer, as well. I'm bad at explaining what my vision is so it's going to help me show it!

  • I have no idea, really. But I want an iPad because I don't like how heavy my laptop is and I don't want to haul it to the bedroom when I want to surf the internet. I'm so lazy. My dad has one and I'm always using it while laying on the couch and watching TV. Multi-tasking!

Are you able to surf the internet with a tablet? Does it have to be in a WiFi area only??

  • I would say they are cool and if I had money I might buy one but I just bought a new laptop.  With that being said I think it would be most useful for school and vendor meetings and just meetings in general.  I would download twitter maybe and an email app so your email just comes on instead of having to browse for it.  Also try and download the kindle or nook apps to read on it.  Sorry no good suggestions :(
