Wedding decor ideas

Our wedding colors are black and champagne. Ive been searching for some decor ideas on here, as well as just a basic google search and found a few things that interested me but haven't found too much.  Any decor ideas, or where i could find them?

Also, I've been thinking about doing champagne corks to hold the escort cards but many people i've asked, only have wine corks.  I don't think that'd flow as nice but wasn't sure if it would look any different (if used, i'd cut off the bottom where the "wine stain" would be).  But i think it'd be  obvious seeing the writing of wine names on the corks.  What do you guys think?
Any suggestions where to get champagne corks?  I've called around the local bars but no one buys them, plus they said, they usually don't keep them bc you cant recork champagne.

For anyone who has done this before or seen them done, is it difficult to do?  I was thinking of cutting the slit along the round side vs. the top/bottom of the cork.

TIA!

I am not sure if I would be able to tell the difference between a wine and champagne cork except if it had the wine writing on it. I saw this website (clicky) that sells corks that look like the do not have writing on them and the corks come in different sizes.

I have never done anything like this but if you cut a slit on the round part how are you going to get the corks to stay where you want them. If I am thinking of it correctly then the botton would be round and would be rolling around.

I think it's a great idea! My FI and I have been collecting wine corks for a few months now (we drink a lot of wine) to use as escort card holders at our wedding. You need to cut a slit in one part of the length of the cork and then saw some of the roundness off on the other side so that it sits nicely and securely.

Champagne and wine corks look different because of the pressure within the champagne bottle when it's corked. Champage corks have that rounded, bubble top, while wine ones stay reasonably straight. I think finding champagne corks would be great for your black/champagne decor.

To get the corks? Have a party and make all the cocktails champagne based? Have girls over for brunch and drink mimosas?  Depending on how big your wedding is and whether or not you do one card per couple/family or one card per individual, you should be able to go through enough bottles to make it work.

So I am obviously procrastinating my HW hardcore right now but check this out

    http://cgi.ebay.com/CHAMPAGNE-CORKS-60-in-LOT-HELP-US-SAVE-OUR-WILDLIFE_W0QQitemZ290541197182QQcategoryZ71177QQcmdZViewItem

Edit... The same seller not only has lots of 60, but of 100 and 200 corks...

I think doing them as escort cards = super doable and budget friendly :-)

    Good luck!

    ohhh... great!  Thanks   Cait!
Are you using champagne corks for the escort cards too?

I've seen wine corks for escort ( both top/bottom, and laying on their side) but never champagne.
After seeing the pics of them on that site Cait, i remember what the difference looks like between them and wine corks.  I wonder if it would make them harder b/c of the different shape, making it hard to stand, like you mentioned Mandy.
I don't know, but think it would be more difficult to do with this shape?

Oh totally forgot what champagne corks look like - I would definitely be able to tell the difference. The example on Etsy looks great. Very cute idea! GL with it!

Yeah you can definitely tell the difference now from looking at it.

Thanks guys.  I'm sure there will be a few bloddy fingers along the way  (i'm such a cluz!) but look forward to the finished project.

Now, to find more decor ideas.
