Happy Saturday Ladies!

The last few days I have been doing some pretty hardcore research for photographers.  I have contacted Chris Neito, Kristi Midgette, Basnight, Matt Lusk, Daniel Pullen, Kirsten Lewis, and a few others.  I think we have fallen in love with Matt Lusk.  He came back with a pricing package that is about $100 over our photography budget which includes what we are looking for; At least 4-6 hours of coverage(8 hours), 2 photographers(he and his wife), rights to all of our photos on hi res DVDs(includes 3) and a TTD session!  Oh, and their Ultimate package which includes all of this also includes a $250 credit for items.  Great deal!  Definitely the "leader" so far in our minds, and his work looks awesome!

Have any of you used or are you using Matt Lusk?  How is his personality and his wife's?  Easy to talk to and get in touch with?  How about the other photographers I mentioned?  Whow are you using?  Pros and cons?  Are their any others we should check out?  How about the prices?

Thanks ladies and Happy Saturday!!!!

Hooray! I feel like photographer hunting is one of the most daunting tasks there is with wedding planning. I've seen a lot of couples on the knot talk about matt lusk and it seems like everyone had really good experiences. I've also heard good things about some of the other photographers you mentioned. In my recent hunt for photographers I discovered how high priced OBX photographers were for what they offer compared to other NC photographers who, even including travel, come well under the prices and often have higher quality work, although that's kind of subjective. (I made an extensive spreadsheet comparing these things bc i'm a little crazy!) OBX is the the number one destination spot for weddings on the East Coast so naturally everything is higher priced there. Are you set on picking a local photographer or have you considered looking outside the area? I was reading your other thread about budget and all so I wonder if you could save a pretty penny with photography without sacrificing quality by just investigating outside the OBX. Might leave you more room in your budget for the bazillion other things you have to consider, lol. You didn't mention how much the ultimate package was with Matt Lusk (which is totally fine, they probably don't want that info all out in the open) so I'm not sure how it compares to the photographers we looked at outside of OBX but from my own research looking first at OBX photographers I was kind of shocked at the pricing for the quality of photos! I'm so so happy we found the photographer we did and she's traveling from the Raleigh area and still came well under what we were looking at for local photographers whose work i wasn't thrilled with.

Also, something else to consider in general is whether you actually need 2 shooters. Unless you're having a huge wedding sometimes two photographers can just mean you end up with a lot of photos of the same stuff. I'd almost always go for one really awesome photographer over two average ones, but that's just me. Happy Saturday to you too!

@Rosey If you don't mind, send me a PM about your photography and such.  I'm interested in who you used, how much, etc.  Would like to see your spreadsheet also if you don't mind sharing.  Matt Lusk's package is $2,600, $100 over our budget but it includes EVERYTHING and then some, of what we are looking for.  8 hours of coverage by him and his wife.  TTD session.  3 high resolution DVDs of all pix.  $250 credit.  His $2,200 package is 5 hours of coverage, 2 DVDs, a $200 credit and NO TTD session.  We justified spending the extra $400 for the better package for all that you get for that difference in price.

2 photographers are important to us.  We would like someone to be with Kelly while she is getting her hair done, dressed, etc.  while someone is with me and my guys.  With 8 hours, we think this is plenty of time for everything from beginning to reception.

I do agree with you that everything is overpriced in the OBX, but I guess it can be when it's the "jewel" of the east coast! :-)  Talk to ya soon!

@Philly - PM sent. But I'm an idiot. I'm out of town this weekend using my best friend/fellow Knotties computer (we're dress shopping together this weekend!) and she was definitely logged in, not me, so sorry for the random message from a stranger. It was me, lol. Feel free to PM me back at rosey, not her. Did i mention I need about a week of sleep?
