Maps, etc.

Hi everyone,

I'm almost certain someone posted about this some time ago, but I wasn't thinking about it then and now I can't remember the answer!!

I am going down to the OBX this fall for vacation (and trying to squeeze in as much wedding planning as possible).  While I am there, I would love to pick up maps, things to do brochures, restaurant guides, etc. for my OOT bags.  The wedding and reception will be in Duck.  Anyone have any ideas where I could get like 50 of each of these for free while I am down there?

Thanks!!

The Outer Banks Visitor Center will give you free information for your OOT bags. If you call them and give them about 3 weeks notice, they will put OBX information packets together for you. Or you can stop in and pick up items that you want. If your wedding is in 2012, the updated 2012 information will be out sometime in January. When we stopped in at the Visitors Center two weeks ago they were very helpful.

Ditto to the PP, the Welcome Center staff was SUPER helpful when we went and asked for some maps, coupon books, etc to include in our guest's welcome bags. They even gave us a box to put everything in! I think we asked for about 30 of everything and they had no problem giving it to us. I got the sense it's a pretty normal occurance for them to get asked this.

Ohhh and the women at the Visitors Center are VERY protective over the Sunny Day coupon guides btw and would only give us 2 of those, but as many as the other brochures that we wanted.

Sooooo we went across the street to the Rite-Aid at the stoplight for Duck and right outside, they had a huge "bin" of them and we opened it up and walked away with about 75 of them in our hands.  I don't understand why they were so difficult about those seeing as how they are all over the island.

@ sarah----did they let you take the really nice colorful maps of the island, the one with all of the different restaturants and everything?  They only let us have 2 of those!

@ Charlene- Yes, they did! I wonder why they only gave you 2? They had a whole stock-pile in their storage room at the welcome center. I took those maps and rolled them up and tied ribbon around them, I'm gonna put them in our welcome bags that way so they look like cute treasure maps :)
