Help! Suggestions for inexpensive venues!

Hello! I recently moved to Louisville and am having a bit of difficulty finding a venue/catering service that fits within our budget. Our budget is the biggest factor. I am considering providing a wide variety of appetizers and 2 or so hours of beer/wine. Approx. 150 to 200 people, but this could change if necessary. Any suggestions on an inexpensive venue/catering service?! I REALLLLY appreciate any help. I would love to find an awesome place that will fit our tight budget. Thank you!!!!! :)

I've heard that the Old Medical School Building is pretty cheap and you can bring in your own catering, etc.  But I don't actually know any numbers.

The civic center at Kaden tower is $1000 and you get it from 8am to 12midnight. You can also bring your own caterer. Sullivan University's culinary arts school does catering if that's something you'd be ok with. I don't know what they charge but I would think they should be reasonable.  I inserted links to their pages if you scroll over the names. Woodhaven CC is reasonable too but if your wedding date on your profile is set (also my date) they're booked already and for most of next spring-fall. :(

There is also a post asking for unique venues a little down on the page that I replied to with links to a lot of places. I've spent a lot of time looking for venues so feel free to pm me if I can help.

I am having my wedding & reception next year at Mellwood Arts Center. They have 3 different event rooms.
Event room 1 holds a lot of people, probably 200 or more. It's beautiful but it is $2300. You could have your ceremony & reception in the same room though.
Event room 2 (the room i'm using) would comfortably hold 100 people. It is $995.
The 3rd event room is huge. Too big for 200 people.

The good thing with Mellwood is that you don't have to use certain catering companies. They let you do your own thing. Hardly any places allow that.

    Good Luck!!

Depends on what part of town you are looking, but UofL's Shelby campus (Esatend) has a newly remodelled venue for weddings. Their pricing is $750 for the entire day, and you don't have to worry about splitting your guests into separate areas, you can all be in the same room. Plus, you don't have to worry about parking like you do at some places downtown, and there's outdoor space too- it's great for a wedding ceremony. There are plenty of bathrooms and they're brand new! Something that was important to me was coordinating everything (linens, chairs, decor, flooring, etc.) at Shelbyhurst you can get pretty much everything in one place but the cake. Best of all you can bring in your own caterer, and they have a specialist there to help you allday and prior to your wedding. Seriously, it's great for the price. Check out their facebook page for pics- http://www.facebook.com/UofLWeddings. Hope this helps

I was going to look at this location, but found mine before the appointment there. The best I remember it was under 1000, for the room. I don't remember the time limits or anything. But I do know that lady you deal with is really friendly. Its worth a look.
