ceremony and reception sites in lancaster area

Hi everyone!I am new here and just got engaged at the end of August. I'm planning a June 2011 wedding. Me and my FI would like to have our ceremony outside in a nice location and then most likely have the reception inside. I'm thinking this because it is going to be hot in june and our guests may get uncomfortable outside if it is. Anyway my question is are there are venues that would allow for this? And can you give me any information you have on these places. I have looked at the suggestions in local resources but I know there has to be more out there. Also if you have any information about how much it cost or if it is really expensive or not as expensive that would be great!Thank you so much!!Heather

I'm getting married at Riverdal Manor...the ceremony & reception will be on their grounds. They have beautiful grounds next to the river or a new pavillion you can use for the ceremony and a large ballroom for the reception. The price there is really what you make it. There is a rental fee and all of the food is alacarte...so you pick and choose what you want. Another money saver is that you can bring in all your own alcohol. Other places we looked at (I was looking for the same thing as you): Casa di Fiore (very expensive, but GORGEOUS!!!), Steinman Park/Pressroom (my friend got married and had her reception here, gorgeous pictures!), Country Barn Farm Market.

Hi Heather! Welcome to the board and congratulations on your engagement. Here are some of my experiences. I got married this past year at the Inn at Leola Village (Casa di Fiore) and I had the most perfect day that I could wish for. There isn't really much of an "outside" option to get married, but the rooms inside are stunning and a great back-up plan to rain (if you remember this past June, it rained almost every single weekend). Above all, the service I received was impeccable. I have a review in my bio if you are curious to read about my experience. This venue is more on the expensive side, but I did have almost all of my guests tell me personally, that it was the best wedding and best wedding food that they've ever been to/had. I also looked at Riverdale and this venue is nice if you're looking for a "blank slate". What I mean by that, is that the ballroom itself is just hardwood floors and white walls with little to no decorations at all. If you are planning on incorporating a lot of your own style, this may be a good option for you. Again, just be aware of the rain as the "river" at Riverdale can look quite muddy. You bring in your own caterer, so the cost is minimal. Pheasant Run Farm is also a nice location if price is in question. The outside is stunning for photographs! My friends got married here this past April and everything was really nice. The big downside for me is that it is a farm and does smell a little like poo. It also has a separate ballroom and eating area. They are close together, but in different rooms. This may or may not be a concern of yours. Again, a hardwood floor ballroom with wooden floors for a blank slate if that's what you're looking for. The wedding I went to was really inexpensive.

Congrats, Heather!  I got married at Riverdale Manor this past September.  It was girgeous and everything I could have asked for!  Our ceremony was going to be outdoors on the grounds but it had rained for 4 days leading up to our wedding so it would have been a mess.  We ended up using the pavilion for our ceremony and it was stunning!  Everyone raved about every aspect of the wedding.  They give you a lot of options with food and everything was delicious! We worked with Maureen, the owner, and she was incredibly easy to get ahold of the entire time we were planning and very pleasant and accomodating.Good luck finding the right place for you!

Just a note on Riverdale....you cannot bring in your own caterer. Thyme & Seasons catering owns Riverdale and they are the exclusive caterer there.

I got married at FoxChase Golf Course in Stevens.  We had our ceremony outside and reception inside, it was perfect!  They have a couple different menu options and prices, and do their own catering.

Hello! I just wanted to suggest the Country Barn. I'm not sure what your style is but they have a beautiful Bed and Breakfast with wonderful grounds for pictures. They have multiple locations for ceremonies outside and in case of rain they have 2 levels in the barn. The downstairs part of this barn is where our reception is going to be. It has beautiful wood and stone floors, exposed beams its my dream location. But maybe your not into the "rural" setting as much as I. The barn is also equipped with air conditioning! The cost is not terrible expensive either. It includes the use of the place, the catering and the DJ. If you have any questions just let me know. Their website is www.countrybarnmarket.com

I'm getting married at the Country Barn Farm Market.  We are getting married at the B&B and then having the reception at the barn.  Farmer Jim is the owner and he is so awesome to work with.  We wanted a venue that was different from a hotel and country club wedding.  I can't wait to have our wedding there!  Good luck to you and congrats!!!!
