small venue/hall that allows outside caterers

hi everyone! a week before my wedding, i am having a traditional Ghanaian (Ghana, west africa) wedding ceremony. there will probably be 80-100 people. the original idea was to have it at my parents house but since they are moving, there will be too many things going on.

we are looking for a simple hall or venue that is not expensive but will allow for an outside caterer since making traditional Ghanaian food is not something most caterers can do and my parents own a catering company. i am having  alot of difficulty finding a hall that will allow for outside catering.

anyone know if any venue like this in scarborough or durham or close to scarborough? i would even have it at a party room of an apartment/condo but i don't know anyone who lives in one. I have thought of a community centre but the one i can think of are anything but glamourous

Thanks everyone!!

  • Have you googled for community centres in your area?  The only other place I've been to in the Scarborough area is the Royal Canadian Legion.  There's one around the St. Clair and Vic Park area.  You will need to decorate it for sure, but once it's done up, it looks super nice.  Maybe check out other legions closer to you?

I agree with Jewel about the legion.  They allow outside caterers.  There may also be a city-run facility like a youth centre that would work.  Check city facility rentals. (http://www.toronto.ca/city_facilities/facility-booking.htm)

For 80-100 people I think it's unlikely you'd find an apartment condo room that fits your guest list.
  • You are looking for a place a week before your wedding? Wow that must be stressful. We are booking our wedding at the Toronto zoo. I know they allow outside caterers..but they charge a 15% of the catering bill. Their onside caterer is reasonably priced and has made custom recipes for previous weddings. (ie the bride ndgrooms vegetarian chili recipe). I'm not sure what your budget is..but they do have an atrium for indoor wedding receptions.
  • thank you everyone, i will check the city sites

diffledee, my wedding is sept 1 but the venue i need is for august 25, 1 week before my wedding for the traditional ceremony.

i did think of the Toronto Zoo. i used to work there and i'm pretty fond of the atrium but i think it's to big and just doesn't meet my needs but thank you!!
  • I am looking into some just outside of Toronto.  I like the Halton Muesum as well as the Alton Mill.  You can pick a caterer at both.
