Contribution question

How much do you typically donate to the priest?  I was thinking $500 since he's going off-site from his church for our ceremony, but I really have no clue how much I should do.  Could you please help?

Oh!  ...and I might add that this is just for the priest - the musicians and church are already paid for separate from this amount.

We have the same situation.  Our priest is performing the service off site and did our preparation (six one hour sessions).  We're giving him $400.

Our priest is also traveling off-site from his church, and he is asking for $250.  We plan on giving him about $300. $500 sounds a bit extravagant to me.

I don't think that 500 is too much if he also did your marriage prep.  Like I mentioned our priest met with us six times not including our initial consult and planning the ceremony (which we do on the 26th, yay!).  The chapel where we're getting married would have charged us $250 for three one hour sessions with someone who holds an LMSW (I never found out what the L stood for but I think the rest is masters in social work).  So I based the contribution on what they were charging.

We're giving ours a $200 gift card to an outdoors store because our priest loves to hike in the mountains whenever he can. We had to pay extra for our pre-cana with him and our engagement encounter weekend was also extra. Everything we've done for our marriage prep was a different fee so we felt our gift to our priest was adequate.
