Reader Gifts

What (if anything) did you get your readers as a gift?My sister is one of our readers.  We are not very close at all.  I have a lot of pictures of our childhood, so I was thinking about buying a collage frame and putting pictures of us throughout the years and leaving an empty space for a wedding day picture.  Is that a stupid idea?  Too "cheap" for this type of gift? Our other reader is one of FI's friends.  I thought about also going the picture frame route with her.I originally thought about buying them each restaurant gift certificates but I want something that will last forever.

I got my brother a bottle of liquor. I got one of my younger cousins a necklace, and the other a hand lotion set.Honestly... better something that they'll enjoy and appreciate, than something that will last forever, unappreciated. I don't think that the picture frame idea is stupid, but just get them what they'll like more.

We're getting his cousin a case of some nice Belgian beer. We're doing gifts for everyone in the wedding that we know they'll enjoy instead of trying to be overly sentimental.

I like the picture idea.  Hobby Lobby has these picture boxes where it's a cube with a spot for a photo on each side, and then inside there are little albums that you could fill with tons of pictures!  I think that it would be a sweet gift.

We're also doing gifts that we know they'll enjoy. My BIL is one of our readers and he loves to grill so we're getting him a personalized platter from claydesign.com with a grilling theme. My FI's sister is another reader and we're getting her a knife block with two knives to start her Shun knife set (very very nice knives). Our two gift presenters are getting a basket with jar candles that we're making. Our EMs are getting a 6 pack beer caddy with hot bbq sauce, sweet bbq sauce, wing sauce and 3 different rubs for grilling in beer bottles. FI makes the sauces and rubs and they both love to grill and they also love his sauces and rubs. HTH

Well, I guess I'm a BAD bride :).  I'm not planning to give anything to my readers.

We're supposed to give something to the readers?  Not that we know who's doing the readings yet.  Petitions, no problem.  Readers, we need to talk.

we gave my two readers little gifts, nothing crazy.  just things that were personalized for them.  one was a close friend, the other DH's aunt.  i wouldn't worry so much about a gift "lasting forever"... sometimes a good meal is better than a frame that collects dust.

I gave my readers the same things as my wedding party. It was easier that way for me, instead of having to think of different gifts for different people.

i was going to get each reader and those who are presenting the gifts a bottle of wine, but then i realized that's 7 bottles of wine, and is very pricey when you incorporate that with all the bridal party and parent gifts. so i'm just going to go to a christian book store and get some stationary or bookmarks or something small.
