After-Thanksgiving/Pre-Christmas Deco

Does anybody know if there are any restrictions or rules regarding this time period for decorations on the altar? I know it isn't as strict as the pre-Easter period. I'm over a year out so I haven't had any of the details meetings yet and *shocker* our Priest/majority of the staff don't use email. I hate to bother him on Sunday (the little old ladies LOVE monopolizing him on the way out of mass!) and I'm only asking because my florist is starting to work on a quote. TIA!

I would definitely ask soon. Our church doesn't allow anything during that time. We're fortunate because our wedding is the Saturday before Epiphany so we will have all the Christmas decor. Each church is different so I would find out.

Our church doesn't allow anything during that time either, so I would double check with the church before you even consider getting quotes. Just call the parish office - they'll be able to help you out.

Our church only allowed for the addition of one large bouquet at the altar during the Advent period. We had to use whatever decorations were already in the church.

My wedding is December 12, at my church they are having a celebration for the Virgen of Guadalupe that day.  They decorate the church with a lot of flowers and my priest told me that I don't need any more decorations. (that will save me a lot of money).  The only extra flowers that I'm having is a small bouquet for Virgin Mary. The best thing is check with your priest.  But in my opinion, if the church is decorated already, you might not need anything extra, except for the flowers for Virgin Mary, if you are doing it.

In our area, the florists are familiar with the decorating rules of the various churches in our town. So if you you don't want to approach the priest, check to see if your florist has that info.Hope you will be pleasantly surprised to find out that your church is well decorated, as mine is, during the holiday season.

I am making it by the skin of my teeth, as Advent starts 11-28 in 2010 and the rules change a little afterwards. Elmcity, I'm getting married in Guilford; St. George's RC. Where are you having your ceremony?
