Update to Invalid Worries

Got this last night. We are meeting with our priest again in October, when we're in town for FI's cousin's wedding. When we do meet, I need to complete a series of questions with each of you and have you sign them.  It is a standard part of the marriage forms and a type of final assessment.  However, I will need to complete these prior to sending in the request for the delegation.  There will still be about six weeks prior to the wedding when we meet in October, so this should be sufficient time for obtaining what is needed.Nothing like cutting it close. I'm still terrified that someone will drop the ball or it will be rejected.

Ouch--good luck! I love being Catholic, but things like this make it a little annoying sometimes.

I've done some additional Googling since I had forgotten it was a "delegation" and not a "dispensation." I keep getting results that involve university chapels. Like, if you're bringing your parish priest to another diocese to perform your wedding at your alma mater then he needs permission from the bishop of the wedding diocese.Has anyone done this? Irish did you do this? How long did it take to get permission? Or did the priest just take care of it and you had no idea? I keep seeing things on these websites like, "It should be secured and proof given to the university 2-3 months before the wedding." :/

I'm getting married at a university chapel and my deacon just started finishing up the paperwork. It's only a month left. Aargh! I'm so afraid something will go wrong even though he assures me that everything will be fine.

Bel, my petition to transfer rite is still in the works. However, my priest told me today that if that doesn't get done, we still have time to get permission from three bishops (my RC Diocsese, FI's RC Diocese, & the RC Diocese where my family church is) for me to marry in a Byzantine church in a different geographic location. I think my wedding is only a week later than yours. So more than one priest seem to think it can be completed quickly. I think they can accomplish a lot with a few frantic phone calls, but it seems that they have to wait until circumstances really are desperate to call their colleagues and plead for action. What they think is desperate is much closer to the wedding than what we think is desperate. I also agree that this can be a super-annoying part of Catholicism. Try to relax as best you can. I bet it will work out.
