Hello im new to this board. How did you decide on the music for the ceremony? My church will allow us to use a CD but I dont know where I can find one with appropriate music. Thank you.

Ask if they have a booklet or a pamphlet that lists their suggestions for readings and music. Scroll through this board for some other ideas. The Catholic Bride bio also has some suggestions: http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/default.aspx?username=Catholic_Bride&NestProfile=0You might be limited to just hymns, but some churches also allow certain classical pieces. I've also heard of contemporary music with Christian undertones being allowed in some parishes. But this is something you'll need to ask your priest, because every parish is different.

honestly, i just let the organist pick it all out.  she knew best what songs fit where in the ceremony, and i also wanted her to play the songs she knew best.  i've been to numerous weddings with bad organists, and i couldnt help but think that maybe it was becuase selections were made that the organist had not played often.

H and I are both in our church choir, so between the two of us, we knew a lot of church music. We started paying extra attention once we got engaged and chose hymns with lyrics and tunes that we liked. I also listen to the classical music radio station and started paying extra attention to listen for pieces that I could use as the processional and recessional.

We have a list of music that the organist will play.  FI is letting me pick most of it (although he does want to go to the session they hold where we pick the music), and most of it, I really like.  There are only a few areas where I don't know any of the music that they've offered, so I'll have to wing it when we go.If you're intent on purchasing a CD, go to any Christian bookstore or online at Amazon or something, and look up "instrumental Christian hymns".  That should yield some good results.  Good luck!

We met with our cantor and he played through songs that he has seen at weddings.  He cantors at a couple of different parishes so he had quite a selection for each song.  He played through them and we chose the one that we liked best.

The Church gave us a CD with approx. 50 songs on it and we were able to pick from there.  Also it was broken out into sections: Processional, Hymms, Communion Hymn, etc.It really helped make it easy on us and our decisions!

we sat down with organist/vocalist and she played us some tunes and we picked.  took about 5 minutes.  we only brought there is love, stookey to the table since we wanted it during communion as it's a special song for us.
