Short intro and FI and I have our Marriage Prep retreat booked!

I've lurked quite a bit on this board and learned a lot so far about marriage in the Catholic Church and the Church in general.  A little bit of background about FI and I...We have been together almost three and a half years and engaged since December 23.  We are getting married on August 11 in San Antonio at FI's family's church.

We aren't doing a full Mass because of the timing of the wedding.  It had to be at 2:30 in the afternoon...that was the only time that it could be done according to the church, and with pictures and everything afterwards having a Mass would have made everything cut it too close for the preparations for Saturday evening Mass.  And we honestly don't have a priest that we are close enough with to feel comfortable asking to celebrate a Nuptial Mass.  FI's grandfather is going to be marrying us, and that's how we both wanted it before we even got engaged.  We're really happy with how we are doing it.

With that being said...

I am so thankful that the Archdiocese of San Antonio still had a few spots open for the Marriage Preparation Weekend Retreat.  That was our first choice for our Marriage Prep weekend, and as soon as I got word that there were still spots available, I reserved it and paid for it.

Right now, we are just waiting on FI's grandfather to get back to us about doing our pre-cana.  He is a deacon, and the church we are getting married in is allowing us to do pre-cana with him since he is the one that will be performing our ceremony.  We already have all the paperwork to him, we just are waiting on him to get back to us about our first meeting.

So ready to get everything rolling!  Only a little over 5 months to go...Eek!
