The Hand of God

by Bernard Nathanson, M.D. is a book I would highly suggest all women read.

Dr. Nathanson operated the largest abortion clinic here in NYC which was said to be the largest in existence, ever.  He was personally responsible for over 60,000 abortions during his practice.

He was born Jewish, turned atheist and 7 years ago became Catholic.  He passed away a few months ago at the age of 84.

In 1984, he produced the documentary "The Silent Scream".  I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember it,  but it was the actual film of a 8 week fetus (female) being aborted.  (If you choose to watch it, it is VERY graphic, be warned)

When I first moved to NYC for college, he was recommended to me for a gyno.  I was very young, not sexually active and I actually found him to be a very pleasant, kind doctor.  I was also unaware of his much larger business endeavors.

It's a fascinating story and one that I think will keep me from ever judging another human being.

I'm not posting this for an abortion debate, btw.  Just a remarkable story to read.

I have heard a lot about him & his work in the pro-life movement after his conversion...from what I know it seems like an amazing story of redemption. I'll have to check out his book.

I want to say I read about him in the NYTimes right after he passed?  And maybe also in a Charles Colson book.  What a remarkable story.

I have never heard of him either. I will have to remember his name the next time I am looking for a book at the library.

Even the information you can find on this man just by googling his name will give you chills up your spine for days.  There are at least half a dozen detailed stories about him if you don't want to buy the book.
