gift for FH as he completes RCIA

Hi Ladies--I've been lurking for a while, but I have a question I think you all could answer.  My FH will be baptized, confirmed, and receive his first communion at the Easter Vigil mass this Saturday.  Can anyone recommend a gift (maybe a book?) I could get him?  I am so excited for him and would love to get him something to celebrate his "coming into the church."  His sponsor has given him a copy of the catechism and plans to give him a Bible on Sunday.  TIA

My FI highly recommends the book "The Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews. It's not an overtly relgious book but it certainly has a great message.

My mom is buying me a nice picture frame to put the Lord's Prayer in.
Rosary is a wonderful idea.

I too am joining the church at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, my FH purchased me a really nice rosary and a silver crucifix necklace, his parents (his mom is my godmother/sponsor) bought me a really nice leather bound Catholic bible with my name on the cover.

I think all those are great ideas. I received a rosary, Douay-Rheems Catholic Bible and a very nice Beatitudes wall plaque from FI Grandma (my sponsor). I would recommend going to a Catholic bookstore/gifts and I am sure you can find something.

I see you are in Cincy, but I am from Columbus, just live in GA right now. If you are familiar with Columbus, there is a real nice Catholic giftshop called Generations on Dublin Rd/Grandview area. There is also another one called the Cathedral Bookshop on E Broad St in Columbus. I know my family/friends got some of my gifts there. HTH!

Most Catholic gift stores will have necklaces or other charms of patron saints.  Perhaps a charm of a saint who shares his name?

I personally prefer books because I feel that new Catholics need to know that they are continuously learning about their faith and that it doesn't stop with RCIA.

I recommend "Handbook for Today's Catholic," which is fully indexed to the Catechism (and has imprimatur, in case you're wondering).  I don't expect your FI to have read the Catechism from cover to cover so this is a good start.
