NFP Question: Temps Vs. CM?

Which do you think is more reliable?

I'm having a hard time figuring out my CM as it doesn't appear to follow any pattern...  But my temperatures point to ovulation on CD10, and my last six cycles have averaged 27 days (26 shortest and 29 longest).

Obviously, since we are TTA I will err on the side of caution and wait it out, but if you HAD TO CHOOSE, which would it be?  Temps or CM?

Here's my chart:

Thanks

Temps are only supposed to be a secondary cross check, never your main symptom. CM is always considered the main symptom in determining ovulation. The creighton method uses only CM and when one has weird observations, this indicates possible health issues. I've used creighton for 8 years for my health, and I had to learn the differences, it took awhile, but now its so easy.

I actually use CM as the secondary cross-check. It took me a while to get the CM readings right. I think you are supposed to abstain 3 days past your thermal shift  AND after your last fertile CM. I think you may have O on CD11...I'd wait to see your next 2-3 temps.

I use the CCLI method (which uses both signs to cross-check each other) but tend to rely more on CM.  As PP said, there are a couple NFP methods out there which use only CM.

You haven't had three days of temps above your high temperature level yet (per CCLI method, your LTL would be 97.4 and HTL would be 97.8), and you're only at P+2 for CM, which wouldn't put you in Phase 3 by any of the CCLI rules, I don't think.  So if you are TTA, I'd definitely err on the side of caution here.

    Thanks everyone.

Do you know of any links to sites with examples of the various types of CM?  I'm having a really hard time distinguishing which is which.

    Thanks ;)

I would go by the temps (I often do because CM for me is really inconsistent/sometimes not there at all) but as pp's said, that would require 2 more days of high temps.

P.S.--Was looking at your bio & your wedding was beautiful! I also saw you had the double rosary (I'm sorry, I can't recall the correct name for it)--we had that too =D

Thanks for the compliments!  Yes, we had the lazo - my husband is Mexican, so we had a bilingual and bicultural Catholic mass ;)  I think it's called lasso in English...

Thanks for the CM advice as well.

Here's a link to about.com that helps describe the different types of fluid:

i tend to rely more on my temps only becuase my CM has been difficult to read and inconsistent. but you can only do this when you know you dont have a fever which can throw it off, or if you know for certain your readings arent high from something else.

for example, whenever i drink, even just 2 glasses of wine, my temp is always higher in the a.m. then when i dont drink.

I've found the temps easiest so far, but I follow the CCL rules
