We (finally!) had our Pre-Cana weekend on Friday and Saturday. It was pretty much what I expected. The material was very dry, and we didn’t have any shockers. A few of the presenters were really good and tried their best to keep us laughing and having a good time. The host couple was the same Deacon who is now marrying us. We also picked out our wedding music with the organist. I would say to anyone who has questions about what it is like, it is nothing scary. We worked out of the workbook; “When Families Marry” and it really were things that, in my opinion, should have already been discussed.
Some Updates,
We live in a town with an Air Force Base, and the Deacon realized that there is a Priest that serves the base through the Archdiocese of the Military, meaning he would be available in theory. While the priest doesn’t have faculties to legally marry us he could be there to provide us with the opportunity to have a full Nuptial Mass with the Eucharist. The Deacon would preside over everything except that part. The original conversation can be found here and here. Nothing is for sure, but it is nice to have the smallest bit of hope when honestly, we had already settled with the thought of a Communion service. Knottie prayers rock!
My doctor’s appointment is tomorrow! I am actually looking forward to it. It was supposed to be April 29th, but it was pushed back because of that terrible weather that came through. We’re still making some decisions. We fell in love with the idea of NFP this weekend so we may be choosing to do that instead of the BC. We’re still praying about it. The original conversation can be found here.
Also, I am officially a college graduate! I graduated with my undergrad yesterday! I now hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. I also have a job! I will be teaching pre-kindergarten beginning in August. I found out about the job on Good Friday. Truly an Easter miracle finding a teaching job in this economy.
Thank you so much for listening and offering such good advice! As my fiancé said yesterday, only three more single Saturdays and we will be married!
