    -washing your hands?  No
-putting lotion on?  Yes - I don't like gunk all over my ring!
-showering?  At home yes, at the gym no.
-washing dishes?  Depends on the number of dishes!
-sleeping?  Yes.  I'm afraid I would stab myself in the eye by accident.  Unless I'm at a hotel, then I leave it on.
-kneading bread ? ;-)  Yeah, no bread-kneading or chicken cutting with this e-ring on the hand!
-other times?  When I'm weightlifting or playing the piano, I put it on my necklace.

Only when I'm putting on lotion, kneading bread (and yes! I make bread a few times a month :)), and probably about half the time when I go to bed (whenever it seems loose before bedtime).

    -washing your hands? No
    -putting lotion on? Sometimes
    -showering? Always
-washing dishes? If I have a lot to wash, or I'm washing something really messy, yes. If I'm just doing one or two things, then no.
    -sleeping? No
-kneading bread ? ;-) I don't make bread as often as I'd like, but when I do, I take it off. Ditto docta on taking it off when handling raw chicken.
-other times? I take it off when I occasionally go swimming. Otherwise, you covered it!

i dont wear my e-ring except on special occasions.  i just wear my plain gold wedding band.  im not a bling person.

i actually didnt want an e-ring.  i told my husband i wanted a new refridgerator instead, and told him if he got me an e-rig it would sit in the box never worn.   he insisted that id be sorry later and bought me the ring, where it sits in the box 360 days a year - and i still have a crappy old refrigerator.  :-)

I take mine off to shower.  Oh, and when I'm doing active sports like swimming or anything involving handles/oars/rackets.  Otherwise it stays on.  I don't deal with a ton of raw chicken cutting or raw dough, but I probably would take it off for that.  Originally, I wasn't going to wear it to work, but H insisted that I should since he paid so darned much for it.  *shrug*

-putting lotion on? yes, except when I am at work and I just do the best I can without taking my rings off

    -showering? Yes

-washing dishes? Not usually, but I normally wear gloves

    -sleeping? nope

-kneading bread ? ;-)  I have never kneaded bread before...lol. But whenever I am working with dough (making cookies) or using my hands to mix something, I usually take them off.

    washing your hands? No
-putting lotion on? Yes - as someone else said, I don't want gunk on the ring. It's hard enough to get every day stuff off of it
-showering? No. I did when we didn't have a drain cover (my worst nightmare was it going down the drain) but I don't now.
-washing dishes? Nope, but I wear rubber gloves.
    -sleeping? No.
-kneading bread ? ;-) I don't knead mine myself, my machine does it for me, <g />

I only take it off when putting on lotion, when I clean it and really messy cooking.

That's about it.  I also never take off the diamond necklace FI gave me our first Christmas together.

I only take it off when I wash my hair (there's a prong that just rips my hair out if I'm not careful all the time and that's just impossible to avoid when washing my hair), most of the time when putting lotion on...and that's basically it. Except I just joined a young adult softball league, so I'm thinking now I will switch to my right hand or not wear it when I play so I don't stab my hand with it in my glove.

I sleep with both my e-ring and wedding band on always. I also always wear my cross necklace all the time. I rarely take it off, even to sleep.
  • edited December 2011
I can sleep in my e-ring fine, and expect that there will be no problems with my wedding band. I have never been able to sleep comfortably in a necklace or earrings, though. It's funny how different that is for different people.

I usually just leave diamond stud earrings in all of the time. I typically don't wear dangly earrings to work due to the kids. I think I am just used to sleeping in them, but do admit that sometimes they bother me and I take them out.
  • edited December 2011
I take mine off a lot. Except for washing my hands, pretty much all of the above. I usually wear rubber gloves for dish washing, and they are uncomfortable with the e-ring since the diamond sits up kind of high. I have slept and showered with it on, but it's not comfortable. Especially with the shower, I'm paranoid that I'll lose it and the diamond spins around and scratches my head-- not fun.

I also take it off for swimming, pool or ocean. Both because I'm afraid it will come off when my fingers get pruney, and I don't think salt water or chlorine are good for it.

I take it off at night and also when I bathe/shower.  Also, if I'm cooking an extensive meal -- with lots of chopping, dicing, etc. -- I tend it take it off.

I can't sleep in any kind of necklace, either, but FI got me a pair of diamond studs for our first Christmas together as a dating couple, and I wear them all the time.

When I go for a facial I take it off (they do a fantastic arm/hand massage) and if I'm at work and getting ready for a "Code Brown" I will...just because goves rip sometimes and I'd be horrified if I got poo in my prongs (even moreso than if it was just on my hands).

And also with any raw meats or when making cookies. Basically any time I feel like something might yuck it up!

The only time I made a point of removing my rings was while wearing gloves in the winter.  The cold made my fingers shrink a bit and more than once, they came off when I removed my rings.  I was lucky that I didn't lose them very early on!

I pretty much never wear my engagement or wedding ring. They bother me when doing most activities. And I don't even wear them at work because I hate the way they feel under gloves and in the winter the area between my ring finger and pinkie get so chafed from washing 343824 times per day. I get weird looks from patients sometimes when I mention my husband and their eyes automatically go to my hands.

actually, I was just reading another article online, and it talked about how you really should take your ring off when you sleep, b/c (since you wont realize it cuz you're sleeping,) there will be a lot of extra rubbing and catching of the prongs against the sheets, and they will wear out faster. :-(
I guess I'm going to start doing that.
