Reader Vestments

FI mentioned yesterday that our reader said he would bring his vestments.  When I questioned FI about this he said that he didn't use the term vestment, but it is some sort of garb. Since we only have one reader, this isn't a problem; however, readers in our parish don't have any special attire.  Has anyone seen this?  I'm going to get approval from our priest, but I would like to know more about it.

If your reader is actually an instituted lector or acolyte (this is an official level on the way to being a deacon or priest), then they would wear an alb or something like it. This is the approrpriate attire for them.

Normally, lay readers don't wear a special alb or anything.

Some parishes may have some kind of stole looking thing (not really a stole) or other kind of "piece of flair" for anyone participating in the mass. There is no need to use these at a wedding mass unless the priest says to.

Ditto pp. Our one reader is an EME, but he is just wearing a regular suit and tie or whatever.

Thanks for sharing. I learned something new!  He is in the process of becoming a deacon, so that makes perfect sense.
