Where did you get your unity candles?

Do most people order them online? I sure don't want to spend much on something that will be lit for 5 minutes and then blown out and never used again. Actually, do we even have to have the unity candle ceremony?

I found mine on Clearance at target and added some extra bling to them.  it cost no more than $10.

I bought supplies and DIY our own.  I just bought a white pillar candle, used vellum that I had, ribbon, faux pearls, and Rubber Cement.  I typed out and printed on the vellum using my computer.  I then trimmed it and used the rubber cement to glue the ribbon and vellum onto the pillar candle.  It cost me about $5.00.  Check out weddingbee.com.  I bet you could find other instructions there.  No need to spend a lot of money on a unity candle.

Not allowed to have them at the church and decided not to do them at the reception either. Yeah, our church is pretty strict and buy the books. Unity candles is not a traditional part of a Catholic ceremony, so that is why our priest doesn't allow it.

We're not doing one, but the Trash to Treasure board on the nest has people selling them all the time. Sometimes they're new, sometimes they have only been burned for a few hours and have plenty of burn time left. You might check there.

We got ours from David's Bridal.  It was about $50 with shipping, but they are really nice and I didn't want to make one.

I don't have a unity candle they aren't allowed in any of the parishes in my diocese.  You don't have to have one and actually they aren't part of the traditional Catholic Wedding Service or Mass.

I have yet to confirm w/my church if we're allowed to do one or not, but I found this one on Etsy that matches our guest book perfectly:

We got ours from this website.

It's a little more pricey, but I loved the claddagh one we purchased and plan on displaying it in our home after.

No, you don't haved to if you don't want.  We will, though, and I plan to have us display the candle in our home, then light it again together each year on our anniversary.  The cost can be ridiculous though, so I may make my own if I don't find something that I like.  (Because I want to display it, I'll spend a bit more if necessary on a nice stand for it.)

I honestly would forego this. I find it distracting from the true point of the ceremony. The mass is uniting you and your husband...there's no need to add anything. I personally think it's a waste of time and money and is pretty cheesy. Just my opinion, of course. I know many ladies use them, but it doesn't seem like you're that into it, so I wouldn't bother.
