Confession??

I am currently in RCIA classes and I know we have to do confession, but I am not sure what to confess. I know this sounds bad but since I have never done this I don't really know what to do.....Can someone please tell me. You can email me if you would like advancola@verizon.net

Thanks

    This should cover a lot.

Don't be nervous. The priest isn't looking to critique your confession "style." And I promise you can't tell him anything he hasn't heard before! I also say that I'm especially sorry for any sins I've forgotten, for thinking them so unimportant.

I just asked this same question in my last class! I'm with you - I have no idea what to say or what to confess!

a good place to start is the ten commandments.  review each, think on them, and think of what things you may have done in violation.   the 7 deadly sins are a good starting place too - i know i confess Anger alot.

The link PP provided is a pretty good one, and you can also find other examinations of conscience online or in prayer books.  I find it helpful to go through the examination line by line, reviewing each sin listed and thinking about my own actions.  When I did my first confession during RCIA, I remember I made a notecard so that I wouldn't forget to confess any major sins (I was nervous and certain I'd forget something huge).   At the end of that confession, and every confession since then, I've asked for forgiveness for any sins I may have forgotten.

Thank you. I will have to do that. I know I will forget because when I get nervous, I forget.

I was nervous my first time having just finished RCIA last spring. The key for me was to go to a priest (if possible) you know and feel comfortable with. Then, remember, only tell him what you want, what is bothering you, etc. You don't have to tell him every sin you have committed in your life, just something that you think will make you feel better in your daily life, etc.
