ready to find a reception venue

Hi!
I'm a recently engaged lady, I guess.  We got engaged in the beginning of August and just set the date with the church this past Sunday.  We are having our ceremony at Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard, MA.  Now, we are on to finding our reception venue.  I would love any input anybody has on wedding venues.  I don't live in the area where we are getting married but my family is from Western/Central MA and I'm only about 45 minutes away.  Thanks in advance for any help : )  This whole wedding planning thing is a bit overwhelming, huh?

hi!  i don't know how far you are willing to go but the reception sites i went to in westfield were  the westwood, the school street bistro, and shaker farms country club.  they all looked nice.  anyone else?  we are still looking in the area-not willing to nail anything down until we have our ceremony site. would love same location for both!

and yes, it is overwhelming, but don't forget that it is also fun!

We were looking for something near Springfield and looked at the Basketball Hall of Fame, the Marriott (in downtown Springfield), Log Cabin/Delaney House, Chez Josef, Storrowton Tavern & Carriage House, and Hampden Country Club.  We were thinking of looking at a few others - like the Sheraton in downtown Springfield and the Barney Carriage House - that weren't available for our date or didn't have big enough rooms available for our date.

We went with Chez Josef because it clicked with what we were looking for, and it seemed like they didn't have a lot of extra, hidden charges, which we appreciated.

We are doing our whole wedding- ceremony and reception at Look Park in Florence, MA because we wanted an outdoor ceremony. The reception area is a bit rustic but it's perfect for a fall wedding.
