Invitations

I've begun looking around for invitations. I can't find any DIY kits in the colors I would like to have. (Black and pink, no flowers or frilly stuff). I also checked on Etsy.com and fell in love with one design. That would cost me upwards of 800 to get the amount and enclosures I need.

So I started looking again and found another on Rexcraft.com I liked as well. It would run around 500 for everything.

Are these prices normal? I was shocked to be quite honest!

Yes, unfortunately they are normal. However, it mostly applies to ladies like me who don't have a DIY bone in our bodies. If you do ,you might be able to get a better deal, especially on etsy where someone will just sell you the design and you print and assemble yourself.

Post the link to what you are looking for and maybe some of these internet savy ladies can help you find it cheaper. I DIYed my invitations and paid under $300, Assembling invitations isn't too bad. :-)

When my sister was looking for wedding invitations a couple of years ago, she ordered Rexcraft and I could swear we were told Carlson Craft bought that company.  Google Carlson Craft discount and contact one of the dealers that offers a 40% discount and see if that applies to Rexcraft also.

I was just  looking this morning after I didn't receive my sample from etsy. I found not from a box.com

Might want to check them out. I ordered a sample this morning.

I used notfromabox for all my paper needs. They are amazing and top notch work, but they're not really cheap. GL!

Buy the design and DIY.  I am in the same boat as babybchbum.  It was fairly easy to assemble and we paid under 340 for ovfer 100 invites, response cards, direction cards, backing, inner envelope, and outer envelope.  We got the paper from cardsandpockets.com, picked the design and told the designer the size of the paper (colors, fonts, etc.), and then printed...we loved them.

Depending on your colors and if you decided to DIY I have some pocketfolds for sale. :-)

I also could not find a DIY kit I liked. Instead we designed our own invite and brought the PDF file to a printer. You could also print them yourself. We ordered linen cardstock and envelopes from paperandmore.com   and backing from cards and pockets. We backed the invites ourselves with permanent double stick tape and added a ribbon. They came out great and were very inexpensive. It's not as much work as you think and I am not a crafty person :)
