Hair Flower Question

While I'm snowed in, yet again, up in NY I figured I would start thinking about hair.  I know that I want to wear it up with a flower to the side and my veil.  When I bought my dress the salon told me I couldn't wear a real flower bc it would die, but I don't know if they were just trying to sell me a headpiece.  When I booked flowers they told me that they could def make me a hair comb with fresh flowers.

For those of you who have worn a flower or are planning to, did you wear a fake or a real? 

If fake, how big and where did you buy.

If real, what kind of flowers.

Mine is fake.  I bought it at Claire's and added to it by sewing netting to the back and one of my grandmother's earrings to the center.

Etsy.com has some really great sellers who make the most AMAZING headpieces.  I am waiting for my first fitting before looking, but I already have my eye on a few.  I think a few other girls on here bought them on there as well. 

I think for real flowers it would depend on the stem/bloom.  Like garden roses are pretty sturdy and would hold up I would assume.  Maybe ask your florist, I am sure they make them for brides all the time.

I bought mine with my birdcage veil on Etsy as well, from seller brendasbridalveils. She was AWESOME! I wanted to make slight modifications, and the order arrived within three days of placing it. It's gorgeous!

HI! I decided to get a flower for my hair too and bought a fake one with crystals on it. In the past I have worn fresh flowers in my hair and found it kinda hard to work them in my hair. I would just make sure your hairstylist knows how to pin the flowers in your hair if you do decide to go with real. I heard Orchids tend to be more strong to stand up in hair and not wilt too fast. Here is what I bought, it is a little pricey but I also considered a feather with a rhinestone in it from my bridal salon and it was the same price! Hope this helps!!

I had a veil for the ceremony but white orchids for after.  My bouquet had the orchids in it so my florist saved a couple and put them aside for my hair, and after dinner my MOH helped me remove my veil and pinned in the orchids where my hair was pulled back for the veil.
