Not from the area and I need HELP

OKay I am not from Cincinnati, I just moved here a few months ago and now I am planning my wedding! I have the church, reception hall, caterer but am really struggling to find a good cake place and DJ at an affordable price. I want someone who will be good at what they do but not top of the line. My budget allows about $450 for the cake and about $500 for the DJ. Any help is much appreciated!!!!!

we are using A Spoon Fulla Sugar and it's awesome! they are around 2.75 a slice so depends on how many slices you need. Their slices are more generous than others though so their cakes look bigger too

Try Marilyn's Cakes. She is out of Ludlow, KY and if you google her you will find her info (website might be marilynscakes dot com). I am not using her but I have heard good things and her prices are much much lower than any of the bakeries around here. She works out of her house. Good luck!

We are using Brian Childs as a DJ. Had our final meeting with him last night and he is great. He is 595 (or was when we booked him) but its worth it.As for Cake, we are using Fantasy in Frosting in Newport. Their cake is great and they are very flexible. Their cake was 2 a slice and their slices were larger in my opinion.

I'll third Brian Childs and second A Spoon Fulla Sugar. Best cake out of the 5 places we tried and great pricing. like pp said, 2.75 for cake with unlimited flavors and we are doing cupcakes for 1.75 each.

I am using Jester Amusements. He is $350-$550 depending on how many speakers and if you want lighting. He has DJ'd several events that I have attended and WE LOVE his personality. He is very easy to work with. For all the vendors I am using go toSchroederLoehnerWedding.weebly.com or email me at mrsscrhoeder1 at yahoo dot com.GOOD LUCK!

We are using Brian Childs as well.  He's $575 for 5 hours, but make sure you tell him you heard about him on the knot.  Becuase this is only the price for knot referals.  And we are using sweet water bakehouse for our cake.  We get as many flavors and fillings as we want for no extra charge.  It's 2.75 a serving.  Here's the website: http://www.sweetwaterbakehouse.com/

We're using BonBonerie for cake. It's more expensive than what other people have recommended but depending on how many people you're inviting, it might fit in your budget. I think it's $3.25 per slice. It's absolutely delicious, the white chocolate icing is yummy. I actually hate icing in general because it tastes too sweet and flavorless to me. But this stuff is so tasty.www.bonbonerie.com

Try http://www.incredibleendings.com/Barb Harbey does a fantastic job and her cakes taste amazing.  She is out of her home and can do just about anything for you.  Very reasonably priced.  Also, if you are having a lot of guests she can do extra sheet cakes without decoration that can be be saved in the back.
