Outdoor wedding, indoor reception?

Hello everybody!

I was wondering what some of your thoughts are on having an outdoor wedding in the beginning of October. Do you think it wil be too cold in Buffalo?

I have been looking online for venues and seem to have my eye on avanti mansion. They seem to be able to accomodate for outdoor/indoor ceremony and reception. Any feedback?

The only thing that I am afraid of however is that the outdoor wedding has a different feel than the indoor reception site and matching my styles and colors has been giving me a headache. I would like to incorporate green and posibly gold or bronze and ivory or cream. It seems bland though and am not sure what to add to spice it up. Any suggestions?

I have not heard good things about Avanti Mansion. But this I heard from other girls, not from personal experience. I have heard that they are slow to call you back and that coordinator is not a nice lady.

As far as a October outside wedding, when in October? Early October you would probably be okay, it is a risk but you would probably be fine. Late October I wouldn't even consider an outside wedding. You remember every year trick treating with a snow suit under your costume. For me it would be too much of a risk.

If you would like other suggestions that has inside/outside capabilities here are some I can think of off the top of my head.... Samuels Grand Manor, Timberlogde (Akron, NY), and Brookfield Country Club (Clarence,NY). I am sure any country club has an inside/outside option. I am sure the other girls can help you out more.

I went to a wedding at Avanti mansion and it is gorgeous. Attending the wedding was great, but not sure how the wedding planning process was with them though but great location.

I agree, end of October would be out the the question, I was shooting for the first week of october, but they are booked for that anyways. They wouldnt be able to accomodate me until the 2nd week of October. I have an appointment next week to tour the facility. The pictures online look nice. But I am definitely a type A and would not be able to handle slow response time and rudeness. That you for the feedback I will look into those other venues. :-)

I'm getting married at the Butler Mansion. They have places outside on their grounds for a ceremony, and then room for the reception inside. My favorite part is the staircase inside the mansion.

Technically, it's called the Jacobs Executive Development Center or something (it's owned by UB), but I think searching for the Butler Mansion will give you better wedding ideas for that place.

I got married almost two weeks ago at Beaver Hollow in Java Center (Southeast of Buffalo). Part of the draw for us was that they did have a Plan A outdoor ceremony location and a Plan B indoor ceremony location. We set up both options and actually ended up using the outdoor pavilion on the water. If was about 50 degrees and very sunny. We could not have picked a more perfect venue.

Guests were told in their invitations that weather permitting the ceremony could be outside and all came prepared (long coats over dresses, etc) and we had a stack of blankets available if people wanted them. Ceremony was about 20 minutes and then people moved inside. No compliants from guests and numerous compliments on our ceremony!

Good luck, I was glad that it worked out the way we had hoped for but I would not have planned for an outdoor ceremony in the late fall in WNY without an indoor alternative!
