Wedding Dress Shopping Tomorrow!

I am excited...and a little nervous - I am going dress shopping for the first time tomorrow!  Unfortunately, my mom and sis aren't going to be able to join me...but at least one of my best friends will be there:)Any thoughts on how to go about this?  I have a few pics I plan on taking with me...but I am on a very tight budget - do you tell the salesperson that right up front or just try on things to see what you like and hope it is doable for the budget?

Yes, be upfront with your budget. You don't want to fall in love with something way out of your price range, and you won't if you never see it! Also, David's Bridal is having their $99 sale, and I know that it means that most of the other dresses are on sale too, besides just the $99 ones. Good luck and have fun!!!

You definitely should tell them your budget up front. And once your find your dress always look and make sure its not cheaper somewhere else. I found my dress online for $100 cheaper and the store here in town matched the price!

The ones you really like, take note of the designer and style number.  Then e-mail Netbride.com and call Pearlsplace.com to get a quote; usually it's at least $100 cheaper from these two discount dress stores.  And they've gotten great reviews at the Dress Board.

I was also on a very tight budget and it helped a lot to be upfront about that.  I also decided that since price was my priority, that I would be very very open.  I took some pics but really tried on anything I that was suggested in my price range.  I ended up with an off the rack dress from Wendy's bridal that was infinitely different that all of my pictures and ideas of what my dress would be...and I LOVE it!  Also, taking just your BF will work in your favor.  Too many hands in the basket is overwhelming. Have fun!

Have fun tomorrow! My little piece of advice is to tell the consultant a little less than you are willing to spend on your dress. The reason I say this is because at the store I went to( very popular in the Bridal district), I told them my budget was $1500 and ended up with a dress that was around $750.  I was stoked at first to find something that was half my budget.  The consultant came back with a hair piece, earrings, and veil that ended up totaling $750.  So even though my dress was way cheaper than I planned to spend, she still sucked me in to spending my whole budget that day.  I definitely am an easy sell as I liked those items and figured I would be buying them any way, even if it wasn't the same day as I bought my dress. If you tell them $2000 they will try to sell you $2000 in total- even if your dress is no where near that.
