Day-of Transportation & First Look

Hello! I'm wondering what you're doing for day-of transportation... Is the bridal party carpooling to the ceremony or using a limo service? What about transportation for bride/groom to the reception site...

My reception is about 10-15 minutes from the ceremony and I guess I'm unsure if we should just drive one of our cars or get a limo, or something.

Also, are you doing First Look photos? Why or why not? (I can't decide.)

I used a limo for all transportation and it was really stress-free.  The limo picked up the guys first, dropped them off at the ceremony, and then returned to the hotel to pick up the girls.  We got a limo big enough for the entire wedding party so all of us could ride together from the ceremony location to  the reception site.

Regarding the first look, I didn't do one but I really wish I had.  We would have had more time for pictures, more time with our guests, and more time with each other.  I've heard nothing but good things from couples that chose to do the first look.

    Good luck with your planning!

We were sort of crunched for time, so what ended up happening, wasn't what we'd originally planned. Because DH got ready 2 miles away from me, the limo picked the boys up first and then DH sat in front with the driver while the same limo picked me up. At the ceremony site, the photographers took DH to the first sight place, and then came and got me once he was ready.

We did the first sight because we wanted more time to take pictures and not be stressed. Also, we wanted it to be light outside. I'm really glad that we did that, because I actually got to enjoy the cocktail hour, and spend that time taking pictures with my family and his family.

The reason we did a limo and not private cars was for convenience. We didn't want to ask a groomsmen to drive, plus the boys were drinking beforehand. And then at the end of the night, the groomsmen could go home with their dates and not have a second car to worry about.

We didn't bother with a limo.  The wedding was a mile and a half from the house and our hotel was on near the best man's house so he did the driving.  We met at the house and took first pictures there.  We wanted to be low key when we saw each other and, since we were so close, it was easy to do it in the front yard of our vintage home (so it was a nice setting).

Dad got us a great deal on a limo on groupon.com to take us from reception to hotel ($60 I believe). As for the rest of the transportation, everyone is driving themselves and my in-laws will be taking us from ceremony site to reception site (it would be my mom, but she doesn't have a car that will accomodate the size of my dress).
