Your age & co-worker's age

Saw this somewhere earlier- being nosy like always: what is your age in realtion to your co-workers?

I believe I am the youngest one here. Especially in our department (World Language)- the closest age here is maybe 20 years older than I am. But in the entire school- there are maybe 2 teachers who are about 2 years older than I am.

Last year and this year students from a different class were doing a project and they were figuring out the ages of teachers (or something) and they've told me that I'm the youngest. I guess I am just a bit surprised to learn this, I'm 25.

Re: Your age & co-worker's age

  • I'm 24 and am the second to youngest here. There are a handful of people under 30 in my office but the majority of them are older. My boss is in his 60's, maybe 70's. I also work with mostly men, which is awesome. A lot of my coworkers are married though with kids and everything.

  • Haha well I'm 24 and as of today the only employee except my boss who is 46.  For tax season we had two college interns both 21, and one other guy who is 60 and a secretary that was 35-ish.  Its okay though my boss acts like he is about 10 half the time.

  • I am the youngest BY MILES now that my work BFF left our firm :(

I am 27.  The next youngest...gosh....I am not even sure, hahahaha. I would say around 43 would be the next youngest?? My firm has 14 attorneys right now, plus a paralegal, plus 4 secretaries and a receptionist.

Well, we do have a 3rd year law student who is a part time clerk who is 25 and he will be starting full time after the bar. He is a self-centered, full-of-himself, pompous dude who is the reason why people hate the entire profession of attorneys, so I am not thrilled about him starting. My boss is also trying to replace by BFF and I am HOPING he hires a female close to my age so I can have a new friend.
  • I am 26 and most of the people here start at age 40 and up.   I like the dynamic and being around older people.  Younger people seem to bring the drama in my experience and things seems to flow smoothly.
  • I am 24 and the youngest in my office. There are 2 others who are 29 and then everyone else is older than 40. I'm the only one not yet married and/or without kids!

  • I'm 23 and most of the people I work with are 40s-50s. But there are 2 guys who are late 20s/ early 30s and then a bunch of guys that I don't work with at all, who are my age.

  • I am 28 and I am the oldest at work as a paralegal not including the attorneys. If you include them ,they are 30s and early 40s. We are a very young firm.

  • I'm 29 and I'm not the youngest or the oldest.

I am a lawyer and I work in a firm that has more than 300 attorneys in our New York office. The youngest attorneys are probably 25 (that's a total guess, since I don't know everyone who works here!).

As far as who I actually work with on a daily basis, I am the most junior attorney on one of my (large) cases. It's very stressful because these more senior attorneys are some of the most respected attorneys in the country in the field in which I work and they know SO MUCH MORE than I know. They're all married with kids, and they range in age from probably late 30s to early 60s.

  • I'm 28 and am, by far, the youngest woman in the building... but there a handful of men who are closer to my age, and one who is younger (an intern).

I work in the sales and marketing department of an engineering company.  It's a total man's world here, so opportunity for advancement for me does not exist.  I call the majority of the age population who work here "lifers" because this is one of the only jobs they have ever held and will stay here for life.  My company offers pensions after you've been here for 10 years.....

(My masters degree is in education so after we're married and settled into our new house, I will be pursuing that field much more aggressively.)

I am a consultant at a business services / management consulting firm. I'm 27 and I'm very average in age for my group. My two direct reports are 25 and 26. My manager is upper 30s. The other guy on our team at my level is young 30s. Our sales reps are all in their 20s.

Even though it's a pretty big company, it's very young as a whole. I think are CEO is about 50 but I can't think of anyone else that old here.

ETA: I like that is a young company. There is always someone getting married or having a baby or some other big life event, and ppl tend to have a lot in common with each other since we're similar ages, so that makes for a good work enviroment. I have a lot of close friends from working here and even met one of my BMs through work.

  • I am an engineer at an aerospace company. There is a small handful of us (probably 3-4) that all came in at the same time and are the same age, i'm 26. Besides that we have some interns that are like 20 and still in college, but the majority of engineers are in there 40's and higher. And for women I am the youngest by far!! There is only a very small handful of us.

  • I am 27 and that is about the average age for our office.  OUr boss is in her 40's and then I have 2 co-workers in their mid 30's  everyone else is about 30 or younger.. I believe the youngest is 23/24.

My company has two offices in the UK as well and they have some older employees but our US office is pretty young.

  • I'm a substitute teacher. I am definitly one the youngest workers in the building. There are a couple of other subs/teachers/TAs who are around my age though. Plus all the high school kids! I'm 24. I have found it to be a problem though because the older people here tend to think that I don't know what I'm doing. Its really frustrating, I'm not a kid, I went to school for this, let me do my job please. I think this is mostly because I went to school here so some of these people were actually my teachers in high school and they have a hard time seeing me as an adult. But its still frustrating.

  • I am 28 and I am a financial analyst at a non profit/governmental agency. There are a handful of people around my age, but most people are in their 40's and 50's.  My closest co-worker is 30 years older than me and it's fine by me, but I still wish there were more younger people around.
  • I'm 24 and one of the younger  teachers in my school. This is my 4th year and I'm still the youngest full-time staff member! There are a lot of people in their low 30s though that I'm friendly with, and then a a big gap- many of the teachers are 50+.

  • I am 24, almost 25.

I work for an apartment complex. In the office the girls are 19, 22, 24, and 40ish (but she acts younger)

Then we have maintenance that are all mid/late 40s up to almost 60s.

My boss is in her 40s!

So we are all pretty spread out in age. But hopefully soonish I will get a nursing job :)
  • I'm 39 and my co-workers range from 24 to 42 and and my boss is 60ish, im the only female and i work at a catering company
  • I'm 24 and way younger than everyone else! The youngest next to me is 35. And then there's another that's 40 something and the rest are in their 50s and 60s. I'm an ESL teacher.

Oh wait actually now that I think about it, there are 2 new teachers that are in their 20s as well. But they're weird and we never talk. Not that there's hardly ever any mingling time at work but whatevs. I miss having fun co workers and really getting a chance to interact with them.
  • I'm one of 2 women under 45 and there are 3 guys 30 or younger and everyone else is pretty much a middle aged man. I work for the Navy in engineering so it doesn't really lend itself to females AT ALL. I think as people retire the group we have now will end up being the next set of older people due to hiring freezes we dont' have a lot of people in their 30s and 40s.
